63 <br /> <br />Comment: See G.S. 143-318.11 (a)(1). <br /> <br />To consider the acquisition of any interest in real property <br />by purchase, condemnation, lease, or other means. Final <br />decision to acquire or lease must be made in open session. <br /> <br />Comment: See G.S. 143-318.11(a)(1). <br /> <br />o <br /> <br />To consider and accept a gift or bequest of personal property <br />offered to the county or any agency thereof. <br /> <br />Comment: See G.S. 143-318.11 (a)(2). <br /> <br />4. To discuss matters relating to the location or expansion of <br /> industries or other businesses in the county. <br /> <br />Comment: See G.S. 143-318.11(a)(6). <br /> <br />To consider the commencement, prosecution, defense, <br />settlement, or litigation of a potential or pending judicial <br />action or administrative proceeding in which the county or an <br />officer or employee of the county is a party or in which the <br />board finds that the county has a substantial interest. The <br />terms of any settlement discussed in executive session and <br />actually agreed to by all parties shall be reported to the <br />board in open session and entered into its minutes within a <br />reasonable time after the settlement is concluded. <br /> <br />Comment: See G.S. 143-318.11(a)(4). <br /> <br />To consult with an attorney to the extent that confidentiality <br />is required for the attorney to exercise his or her ethical <br />duties as a lawyer. <br /> <br />Comment: See G.S. 143-318.11(a)(5). <br /> <br />To consider the qualifications, competence, performance, <br />character, fitness, conditions of appointment, or conditions <br />of initial employment of a county officer or employee or a <br />prospective county officer or employee. Final action <br />appointing, employing, removing, or discharging a county <br />officer or employee shall be taken in open session. <br /> <br />Comment: See O. S. 143-318.11(a)(8). <br /> <br />To consider the employment, performance, or discharge of an <br />independent contractor. Final decisions regarding Such <br />employment or discharge shall be taken in open session. <br /> <br />Comment: See G.S. 143-318.11(a)(9). <br /> <br />To hear or investigate a complaint, charge, or grievance by <br />or against a county officer or employee. Final action <br />regarding such complaint, charge, or grievance shall be taken <br />in open session. <br /> <br />Gomment: See G.S. 143-318.11(a)(8). <br /> <br />10. <br /> <br />To consider the appointment or removal of a member of another <br />board, commission, or other public body, some or all of whose <br />members are appointed by the Cabarrus County Board of <br />Commissioners. At least seven days before making an <br />appointment discussed previously in executive session, the <br />board-shall present at an open meeting and simultaneously make <br />available for public inspection in the office of the clerk to <br />the board a written list of the persons then under <br />consideration for the appointment. Final action on <br />appointments to and removal from other boards, commissions, <br />or other public bodies shall be taken in open session. <br /> <br /> <br />
