220 <br /> <br /> This contract made by and between Cabarrus County, hereinafter <br />referred to as the "County", by and through its Department of Social <br />Services, and Cabarrus Victims Assistance Network, Inc., hereinafter <br />referred to as "CVAN". <br /> WITNESSETH <br /> WHEREAS, CVAN provides shelter and other supportive services <br /> to victims of domestic violence and is properly incorporated in the <br /> State of North Carolina for this purpose; and <br /> WHEREAS, GVAN wishes to secure the financial support of the <br /> County for a portion of the costs incurred in providing these <br />'services; and <br /> WHEREAS, the County, in the interest of the welfare of its <br /> citizens, desires to provide financial support for a portion of the <br /> costs incurred by CVAN in its provision of these services; and <br /> WHEREAS, The County has appropriated the sum of $15,000 for <br /> this purpose for the period July 1, 1991 through June 30, .1992. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, in consideration of the premises, the County <br /> and CVAN do mutually agree to the following terms and conditions: <br /> 1. This contract shall begin July 1, 1991 and shall exist <br /> and continue through June 30, 1992. <br /> 2. GVAN shall provide its services to individuals who <br /> qualify for these services in relation to CVAN's <br /> established policies in a manner specified by these <br /> policies. These policies are understood to provide for <br /> compliance with Titles VI and VII of the Civil Rights <br /> Act of 1964 and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act <br /> of 1973, as appropriate, in addition to any other local <br /> ordinances, state laws, and federal regulations which <br /> may be applicable to CVAN and its services. <br /> 3. The County shall allocate and pay to CVAN twelve (12) <br /> monthly payments of $1,250.00 each for a total of <br /> $15,000.00 with each payment to be made on or about the <br /> last day of each month commencing in July, 1991. <br /> 4. CVAN will undergo an audit of its operations conducted <br /> by a Certified Public Accountant and will submit a copy <br /> of the report of this audit to the Department of Social <br /> Services within ninety 90 days of the conclusion of <br /> CVAN's established fiscal year. <br /> 5. CVAN agrees to hold the County and the Department of <br /> Social Services harmless for any and all liability, <br /> damages, or claims, including attorney's fees, that <br /> might be asserted or suffered by the County or the <br /> Department of Social Services as a result of any act or <br /> omission of any of CVAN's officers, employees, agents <br /> or representatives arising out of this contract. <br /> 6.
