<br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Hamby, seconded by Commissioner Barnhart and
<br />unanimously carried, the Board reappointed Mr. Richard Chaney to the Gabarrus-
<br />Rowan Park Commission for a term of four years ending July 1, 1995.
<br /> UPON MOTION of Chairman Simmons, seconded by Commissioner Hamby and
<br />unanimously carried, the Board added to the agenda the acquisition of a right-
<br />of-way in the Coddle Creek Reservoir project area.
<br /> UPON MOTION of Chairman Simmons, seconded by Commissioner Barnhart and
<br />unanimously carried, the Board approved the acquisition of a right-of-way in the
<br />Coddle Creek Reservoir project area from Mr. and Mrs. Claude Ray Murph in the
<br />amount of $500.00.
<br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Hamby, seconded by Commissioner Barnhart and
<br />unanimously carried, the Board added the annual contracts with the non-profit
<br />organizations and the volunteer fire departments to the agenda.
<br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Hamby, seconded by Commissioner Barnhart and
<br />unanimously carried, the Board authorized the execution of the following Fiscal
<br />Year 1991-1992 annual contracts with the non-profit organizations and the
<br />volunteer fire departments.

<br />CONTRACT
<br />
<br /> THIS CONTRACT, made and entered into effective the 1st day of
<br />July, 1991, by and between Cabarrus County, a body politic and
<br />political subdivision of the State of North Carolina, hereinafter
<br />referred to as the "County", by and through its Emergency Medical
<br />Services Office, and the Cabarrus Rescue Squad, Inc., a non-profit
<br />corporation of Cabarrus County, North Carolina, hereinafter referred
<br />to as "Rescue Squad";
<br /> W I T N E S S E T H: that -
<br /> WHEREAS, County, through the Cabarrus County Emergency Medical
<br />Services Department operates an ambulance service, and Rescue Squad
<br />operates a volunteer rescue organization which provides ambulance
<br />and rescue service in addition to and as a supplement for the
<br />regular ambulance service of County; and
<br /> WHEREAS, County is authorized to make contributions to Rescue
<br />Squad under the provision of G.S. 153A-445, and to operate an
<br />ambulance under the provisions of G.S. 153A-250; and
<br /> WHEREAS, County and Rescue Squad desire to enter into a
<br />contract whereby Rescue Squad will provide ambulance and rescue
<br />services in Cabarrus County in addition to the regular ambulance
<br />service of County; and
<br /> WHEREAS, Rescue Squad desires to secure the continued
<br />financial support of County for a portion of its costs incurred in
<br />providing rescue and ambulance services, and in the interests and
<br />welfare of its citizens, County desires to provide financial support
<br />for a portion of the costs incurred by Rescue Squad in its
<br />provision of ambulance and rescue services; and
<br /> WHEREAS, County has appropriated the sum of $15,000.00 for
<br />this purpose for the period July 1, 1991 - June 30, 1992.
<br /> NOW, THEREFORE, in consideration of the premises, County and
<br />Rescue Squad do mutually agree to the following terms and
<br />conditions:
<br /> 1. This contract shall begin July 1, 1991, and shall exist
<br /> through June 30, 1992.
<br /> 2. Rescue Squad shall provide voluntary rescue and
<br /> ambulance service in addition to the ambulance service provided by
<br /> the Cabarrus County Emergency Medical Services when dispatched by
<br /> the Cabarrus County Communications Center and/or the Cabarrus County
<br /> Emergency Medical Service. Rescue Squad further agrees that
<br /> response for backup for the Cabarrus County Emergency Medical
<br /> Services shall be assumed by providing a monthly twenty-four hour
<br /> per day standby roster.
