P. Cox Company. The Board <br />further authorized Chairman Lentz to reduce the retainage for L. P. Cox Company <br />subject to his approval. <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Melvin, seconded by Commissioner Moss and <br />unanimously carried, the Board appointed Mrs. Peggy Christy to the Cabarrus <br />County Nursing Home Community Advisory Committee for a one-year term ending <br />December 31, 1990. <br /> Ms. Janet M. Magaldi presented a Petition which she stated contained in <br />excess of 456 signatures of persons opposed to the hunting and trapping of foxes <br />in Cabarrus County and asking the Board to rescind its previous action <br />requesting Representative Bobby Harold Barbee, Sr., to include Cabarrus County <br />in proposed legislation to allow the trapping of foxes in the county. She also <br />read an Affidavit from Dr. Richard Brown, Biology Professor at the University <br />of North Carolina at Charlotte, in which he stated that the trapping of foxes <br />was an outdated method of predator control and that habitat management was the <br />solution to the problem. In his affidavit, Dr. Brown recommended that the Board <br />vote against the trapping and hunting of foxes in Cabarrus County. <br /> Ms. Betsy Carpenter of the Animal Protection Association spoke against the <br />hunting and trapping of foxes in the county. She asked that she and members of <br />her organization in coordination with the Wildlife Commission be allowed to work <br /> <br /> <br />
