357 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION DECLARING THE'MONTH OF APRIL <br />AS POULTRY MONTH IN CABARRUS COUNTY <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />The Honorable James G. Martin, Governor of the State of North <br />Carolina, has proclaimed April, 1990 as "North Carolina Poultry <br />Month," and urges citizens to recognize the importance of our <br />poultry food industry in our state; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />North Carolina's poultry industry represents a major agricultural <br />industry in our state, exceeding one billion dollars in cash <br />receipts for farm families. The poultry industry employs thousands <br />of our citizens and contributes significantly to the income of our <br />farm workers. Nutritious food is supplied to North Carolina <br />families and others around the world; and <br />North Carolina is the most diversified poultry producing state in <br />the nation, ranking first in turkey production, second in duckling <br />production, fourth in commercial broiler production, and eighth in <br />egg production; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />Concord Farms, Inc., with headquarters in Cabarrus County, has <br />economic impact in Cabarrus County and five other North Carolina <br />counties by contracting with fifty farmers and employing some four <br />hundred North Carolinians. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, I, James W. Lentz, Chairman of the Cabarrus County Board <br />of Commissioners, do hereby proclaim the month of April, 1990 as POULTRY MONTH <br />IN CABARRUS COUNTY to coincide with the celebration of North Carolina Poultry <br />Month, and encourage all citizens to recognize the importance of the poultry <br />food industry in Cabarrus County. <br /> <br />This the 16th day of April, 1990. <br /> <br />/s/ James W, Lentz <br /> James W. Lentz <br /> Chairman, Cabarrus County <br /> Board of Commissioners <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Chairman Lentz, seconded by Commissioner Moss and <br />unanimously carried, the Board adopted the following Proclamation. <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION DECLARING THE MONTH OF MAY <br />AS DUCKLING MONTH IN CABARRUS COUNTY <br /> <br />WHEREAS <br /> <br />Concord Farms, Inc., a North Carolina corporation, is the only <br />duckling company in the south or southeast; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS <br /> <br />Concord Farms, Inc. sells duckling in all fifty states and exports <br />to over fifteen foreign countries; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS <br /> <br />Concord Farms, Inc. has an economic impact on farming in six counties <br />in North Carolina by contracting with fifty farmers; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS <br /> <br />Concord Farms, Inc. employs some four hundred North Carolinians; <br />and <br /> <br />WHEREAS <br /> <br />Concord Farms, Inc. owns and operates in Cabarrus County the world's <br />largest duckling hatchery; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS <br /> <br />Concord Farms, Inc. produces approximately twenty-seven percent of <br />all duckling in the United States; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS <br /> <br />the Concord Farms National Duckling Cooking Contest will be featured <br />at the Share Cabarrus Festival in May. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, I, James W. Lentz, Chairman of the Cabarrus County Board <br />of Commissioners, do hereby proclaim the month of May 1990 as DUCKLING MONTH IN <br />CABARRUS COUNTY, and call upon all citizens to join in saluting Concord Farms, <br />Inc. and to participate in all activities planned in celebration of the event. <br /> <br /> <br />
