436 <br /> <br />Amend Article IX, Section 6. Separation Allowance of the Cabarrus <br />County Personnel Ordinance to read as follows: <br /> <br /> The County shall provide a special separation allowance to all <br />permanent full-time sworn law enforcement employees who are members <br />of the North Carolina Local Employees' Retirement System who retire <br />and who meet all of the following qualifications: <br />(a) Have completed thirty years or more of creditable service, or <br /> have attained fifty-five (55) years of age and completed five <br /> (5) or more years of creditable service; <br />(b) Must not yet be age sixty-two (62); and <br />(c) Must have completed at least five (5) years of continuous <br /> service herein defined immediately prior to service <br /> retirement. Any break in continuous service required by this <br /> subsection because of disability retirement or disability <br /> salary continuation benefits shall not adversely affect a <br /> qualification to receive the allowance, provided the employee <br /> return to service within forty-five (45) days after the <br /> disability benefits cease and is otherwise qualified to <br /> receive the allowance. <br /> The separation allowance shall be determined in accordance <br />with N.C.G.S. 143-12D. The separation allowance ceases when the <br />employee reaches age sixty-two (62) or when the employee dies or is <br />reemployed in any capacity by a city, town, County, or the State. <br /> As used in this section, "creditable service" means service <br />for which credit is allowed under the retirement system of which the <br />employee is a member. <br /> <br /> Chairman Lentz recessed the meeting until the conclusion of the meeting <br />of the Water and Sewer District of Cabarrus County. <br />Chairman Lentz reconvened the meeting of the Board of Commissioners. <br />UPON MOTION of Chairman Lentz, seconded by Commissioner Hamby with <br />Chairman Lentz and Commissioners Hamby, Moss, and Melvin voting for, the Board <br />approved the following tax rate schedule for the fire districts in Gabarrus <br />County. <br /> <br />FIRE DISTRICTS RATE <br /> <br />A. Pleasant Rural <br /> <br /> 025 <br />05 <br />04 <br /> 04 <br />08 <br />05 <br />04 <br /> 025 <br /> 055 <br /> 04 <br />.03 <br />.035 <br />.055 <br />· 045 <br />.03 <br />.07 <br />.04 <br /> <br /> Commissioner Melvin presented to each Board member for informational <br />purposes a copy of a Strategic Development Plan Proposal by Mr. Michael Gallis. <br />This proposal is presently under consideration by the Economic Development <br />Corporation as well as the City of Concord and the City of Kannapolis. <br /> The Board agreed to hold a special meeting during the next week to adopt <br />the Fiscal Year 1990-1991 Budget Ordinance, to review the Schedule of Values for <br />the 1991 County Revaluation, to adopt budget amendments, and to consider other <br />matters that might be appropriate. <br /> There being no further business to come before the Board, the' meeting was <br />adjourned. <br /> <br />Clerk to the Board <br /> <br /> <br />
