484 <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Melvin, seconded by Chairman Lentz and <br />unanimously carried, the Board authorized the County Manager to forward a letter <br />to the Z. Smith Reynolds Foundation stating the County's interest in the <br />Opportunities for Families Fund. <br /> Mr. Fletcher L. Hartsell, Jr., County Attorney, recommended that the Board <br />ratify the employment of the law firm of Shaw, Pittman, Potts& Trowbrid§e to <br />provide specialized legal assistance and consultation in regards to the airport <br />project. He noted that the firm would serve on an "on-call basis" and that <br />standard rates for members of the law firm would apply. <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Hamby, seconded by Chairman Lentz with <br />Commissioners Hamby, Moss, and Melvin and Chairman Lentz voting for and <br />Commissioner Simmons voting against, the Board authorized the hiring of the law <br />firm of Shaw, Pittman, Ports & Trowbrtdge to provide specialized legal <br />assistance and consultation relative to the County's airport project. <br /> Mr. Michael M. Ruffin, County Manager, announced that Commissioners Melvin <br />and Simmons would be meeting with the Merit Pay Committee on July 27 to discuss <br />committee recommendations and possible amendments to the Personnel Ordinance. <br />The Board agreed to meet at 7:00 P.M. on Monday, July 30, 1990, to receive the <br />recommendation from this committee. <br /> Board members were reminded that the August 6th meeting would be held in <br />the Auditorium of the Old Cabarrus County Courthouse at 9.30 A.M. <br /> UPON MOTION of Chairman Lentz, seconded by Commissioner Moss and <br />unanimously carried, the Board moved to go into executive session to discuss a <br />personnel matter. <br /> UPON MOTION of Chairman Lentz, seconded by Commissioner Moss and <br />unanimously carried, the executive session was terminated. No action was reported from the executive session. <br /> There being no further business to come before the Board, Chairman Lentz <br />recessed the meeting until 7:00 P.M. on Monday, July 30, 1990. <br /> <br />Clerk to the Board <br /> <br /> <br />
