5O5 <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Hamby, seconded by Commissioner Moss and <br />unanimously carried, the Board tabled until the next meeting the second reading <br />of the proposed amendment to the "Ordinance Governing the Management of Solid <br />Waste in Cabarrus County, North Carolina". This amendment had been approved on <br />first reading on August 13, 1990. <br /> <br />OTHER BUSINESS <br /> <br /> Mr. Michael Ruffin, County Manager, reported that seven County employees <br />were members of either the United Sates Armed Forces Reserves or the National <br />Guard and were subject to be called to active duty due to the crisis in the <br />Persian Gulf. He briefly reviewed the County's policy relative to military <br />leave as well as its responsibility as an employer during this type of emergency <br />situation. <br /> Chairman Lentz called for a moment of silence on behalf of military <br />personnel serving in the Middle East. <br /> UPON MOTION of Chairman Lentz, seconded by Commissioner Simmons and <br />unanimously carried, the Board moved to go into executive session to discuss a <br />legal matter with the County Attorney and to consider the possible acquisition <br />of property. <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Hamby, seconded by Commissioner Simmons and <br />unanimously carried, the executive session was terminated.
