512 <br /> <br /> Each ambulance of an emergency ambulance service provider shall be <br />certified as a Category I ambulance. <br /> Each ambulance of a non-emergency ambulance service provider shall be <br />certified either as a Category I or Category II ambulance. <br /> <br />SECTION 10, COMMUNICATIONS: <br /> CMED is operated by the County and is responsible for the dispatch of <br />emergency ambulances and for the communications and coordination of all <br />emergency ambulance service operations in Cabarrus County. <br /> Each ambulance shall be equipped with a two-way radio licensed by the <br />Federal Communications Commission which must be in operative condition at all <br />times said ambulance is in service. <br /> Each emergency ambulance must maintain direct radio communications with <br />CMED at all times by way of the State designated VHF radio system. <br />Communications shall be conducted on frequency 155.160 MHz or 155.280 MHz unless <br />otherwise directed by CMED. <br /> Each emergency ambulance must provide direct radio communication, through <br />CMED, with the emergency medical facility to which its patient is being <br />transported. <br /> Each emergency ambulance provider which receives calls for emergency <br />ambulance service directly, independent of and/or in addition to calls received <br />by CMED, must provide for public access to its service on a 24 hour per day, 7 <br />day per week basis. <br /> Each non-emergency ambulance must be able to maintain an open line of <br />communication with CMED at all times such ambulance is in service. <br />Communication shall be provided for by way of the designated State Rescue VHF <br />simplex radio system (operating on 155.280 MHz). <br /> Each non-emergency ambulance service may provide direct radio <br />communication, through CMED, with the medical facility to which its patient is <br />being transported on State Rescue frequency 155.340 MHz. <br /> Each ambulance utilized in the dual capacity of providing both emergency <br />and non-emergency ambulance service, pursuant to this ordinance, must maintain <br />communications with CMED in accordance with the standards established for <br />emergency ambulances. <br /> <br />SECTION 11. INDEMNITY AND INSURANCE: <br /> Each franchised ambulance service provider shall indemnify and save <br />harmless the County, its agents and employees and assigns from and against all <br />loss, cost, damages, expense and liability caused by an accident or other <br />occurrence resulting in bodily injury, including death, sickness and disease to <br />any person, or damage or destruction to property, real or personal, arising <br />directly or indirectly from operations, products or services rendered pursuant <br />to such franchise. <br /> Each franchised ambulance service provider shall maintain the following <br />policies of insurance in amounts not less than those prescribed herein. The <br />County is to be included in these policies as an additional named insured and <br />is to be provided a certificate of insurance which names the County as a <br />certificate holder and which provides that the County shall be given thirty (30) <br />days prior written notice of any change in coverage or modification or <br />cancellation of any policy or policies shown on the certificate. These policies <br />must include, but are not limited to: <br /> (a) Automobile liability insurance coverage for owned, hired and non- <br /> owned vehicles in an amount of not less than $300,000.00 per person <br /> and $500,000.00 per accident for bodily injury and $50,000.00 per <br /> accident for property damage. <br /> (b) Comprehensive general liability insurance coverage for the <br /> activities and services provided pursuant to this franchise in an <br /> amount not less than $500,000.00 per occurrence. This insurance <br /> shall include coverage for products, completed operations and <br /> contractual liability assumed under the indemnity provisions of this <br /> ordinance. <br /> (c) Ambulance attendants errors and omissions coverage (including <br /> malpractice) in an amount not less than $1,000,000.00 per occurrence <br /> for all attendants while on duty. <br /> (d) Workers compensation and occupational disease insurance meeting the <br /> statutory requirements of the State of North Carolina including <br /> employee liability insurance in an amount of not less than <br /> $100,000.00. <br /> Ail insurance limits specified herein are subject to change at the <br />discretion of the County. <br /> <br /> <br />
