547 <br /> <br />testing would be conducted in an area that was used in the late 196Ors and early <br />1970~s and was recently re-acquired by the county through condemnation <br />proceedings. Three companies which have been identified as suspects of <br />depositing hazardous waste in the landfill during that time were Rinegold, <br />Florida Steel and Drum, and MartinVs Battery Salvage. <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Hamby, seconded by Commissioner Melvin with <br />Commissioners Hamby and Melvin and Vice-Chairman Moss voting against, the Board <br />authorized an amendment to the budget to substitute a Clerk position for an <br />Income Maintenance Caseworker position in the Social Services budget for the Low <br />Income Energy Assistance Program. <br /> Vice-Chairman Moss recessed the meeting at 10:04 A.M. until the conclusion <br />of the meeting of the Board of Commissioners for the Water and Sewer District. <br /> Vice-Chairman Moss reconvened the meeting at 10:06 A.M. <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Melvin, seconded by Commissioner Hamby with <br />Commissioners Melvin and Hamby and Vice-Chairman Moss voting for, the Board <br />moved to go into executive session for the following reasons pursuant to North <br />Carolina General Statute 143-318.11(a)(4), (5), (6), and (9): Property <br />acquisition; to consult with the attorney; to consider pending litigation; and <br />to consider the performance of an independent contractor. <br /> Commissioner Simmons arrived during the executive session at 10:30 A.M. <br />Chairman Lentz arrived during the executive session at 11:15 A.M. <br /> UPON MOTION of Chairman Lentz, seconded by Vice-Chairman Moss and <br />unanimously carried, the executive session was terminated. No report was filed regarding the executive session. <br /> There being no further business to come before the Board, the meeting was <br />adjourned at 11:05 P.M. <br /> <br />Clerk to the Board <br /> <br /> <br />
