<br />
<br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Hamby, seconded by Commissioner Carpenter and
<br />unanimously carried, the Board pursuant to North Carolina General Statute 159-
<br />25(b) designated the Chairman of the Board as the countersignature on all checks
<br />drawn on official depositories of Cabarrus County. The Board further adopted the
<br />following resolution pursuant to North Carolina General Statute 159-28.1.
<br />
<br />Resolution Authorizing Use of Facsimile Signatures
<br />
<br />Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners by order of this resolution
<br />authorizes the use of facsimile signature machines, signature
<br />stamps, or similar devices in signing checks and drafts and in
<br />signing preaudit certificate on contracts or purchase orders. The
<br />Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners charges the finance director
<br />with the custody of the necessary machines, stamps, plates, or other
<br />devices, and he and the sureties on his official bond are liable
<br />for any illegal, improper, or unauthorized use of them.

<br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Barnhart, seconded by Commissioner Payne and
<br />unanimously carried, the Board, pursuant to North Carolina General Statute 153-
<br />40(a), by resolution fixed the time and place for its regular meetings of each
<br />calendar month at 6:30 P.M. on the first Monday of each month and at 6:30 P.M.
<br />on the third Monday of each month in the Commissioners' Meeting Room at the
<br />Cabarrus County Governmental Center in Concord, North Carolina.
<br /> UPON MOTION of Chairman Simmons, seconded by Commissioner Hamby and
<br />unanimously carried, the Board approved the following bond in the amount of
<br />$25,000.00 for Sheriff Robert M. Canaday.

<br /> KNOW ALL MEN BY THESE PRESENTS, that Robert Murel Canaday as
<br />Principal (hereinafter called Principal), and The North River
<br />Insurance Company, a New Jersey corporation, as Surety (hereinafter
<br />called Surety), are held and firmly bound unto the State of North
<br />Carolina in the penalty sum of Twenty-Five Thousand Dollars
<br />($25,000.00), to the payment whereof, well and truly to be made and
<br />done, the Principal binds himself, his heirs, executors, and
<br />administrators, and the Surety binds itself, its successors and
<br />assigns, jointly and severally, firmly by these presents.

<br /> THE CONDITION OF THE ABOVE OBLIGATION IS SUCH, THAT WHEREAS,

<br />and satisfy all fees and sums of money by him received or levied by

<br />by the tenor thereof, ought to be paid, or to the person to whom

<br />execute the said office of sheriff during his continuance therein,
<br />then above obligstion to be void; otherwise to remain in full force
<br />and effect.
<br /> This Bond is executed by the Surety upon the following express
<br />conditions, which shall be conditions precedent to the right of
<br />recovery hereunder:
<br /> First: That regardless of the number of years this Bond shall
<br />continue or be continued in force, or be renewed, and of the number
<br />of annual premiums that shall be payable or paid, the Surety shall
<br />not be liable hereunder for more in the aggregate than the above-
<br />named penalty.
