homeschools. There will be a total of 20 youth serving on the Youth Commission. Members <br />shall serve without compensation. <br />Redistricting <br />Should a member of the Youth Commission be redistricted to another school, he/she will be able <br />to complete the term for which he/she was appointed. Further, if a student moves within <br />Cabarrus County, he/she will be able to complete his/her term. Youth Commissioners moving <br />out of County will not be allowed to retain their seat as they are no longer youth citizens of <br />Cabarrus County. <br />Election of Officers <br />Officers shall be elected using a written ballot. A quorum must be present at the meeting (half of <br />the current membership plus one) for an election to be valid). Candidates may give a speech of <br />three minutes or less on the day of the elections. The following offices shall be filled: <br />- President: The President will preside over general meeting and confer with the <br />Advisor about the agenda prior to meetings. The President will oversee committees and <br />notify members about meetings and events. Preference for nominations for president will <br />be given to those youth commissioners serving the second year of their term. <br />- Vice President: The Vice President will preside over meetings in the absence of the <br />President and assist the President in overseeing committees. <br />- Secretary: The Secretary will keep attendance and take minutes during meetings. <br />- Historian: The Historian will take photographs of members at events and share with <br />Advisors. This Historian will help compile a visual newsletter for County Commissioners. <br />- Treasurer: The Treasurer will keep financial records of the Youth Commission from <br />both travel and spending accounts. <br />- Parliamentarian: The Parliamentarian will assist youth presiding over the meeting to <br />maintain order and govern meetings according to Parliamentary procedure. <br />Committees <br />The following committees shall be established: <br />- Membership Committee: Responsible for seeking new members for the Youth <br />Commission and reviewing applications, conducting interviews, and making <br />recommendations to the Youth Commission and Board of Commissioners for <br />appointments. The Vice President shall lead the Membership Committee. <br />- Operations Committee: Responsible for planning educational opportunities, events, <br />and projects for the Youth Commission. The Operations Committee shall be led by the <br />Treasurer and Historian. <br />- Communication Committee: Responsible for ensuring adequately positive publicity of <br />the Cabarrus County Youth Commission and maintaining social media platforms. <br />Attachment number 1 \n <br />F-2 Page 46 <br />
