January 19, 2018 (Board Retreat) <br />Break <br />p.m. <br />Page 3428 <br />The Board took a short break at 7:13 p.m. The meeting resumed at 7:21 <br />Kannapolis City Schools <br />Dr. Chip Buckwell, Superintendent and Will Crabtree, Director of Business <br />Operations presented a PowerPoint presentation titled "Kannapolis City Schools <br />2018-2022 CIP/Budget Report." Topics included: CIP needs over the next five <br />years; deferred maintenance/facilities grounds; 2018-2019 budget request <br />expansion preview; and 2018-2019 budget request continuation preview. <br />Kannapolis City Schools Board Vice Chairman Daniel Wallace was also present. <br />Throughout the presentation, Dr. Buckwell and Mr. Crabtree responded to <br />questions from board members. <br />Break <br />The Board took a short break at 7:39 p.m. The meeting resumed at 7:44 <br />p.m. <br />Rowan-Cabsrrus Community College <br />Dr. Carol Spalding, President reviewed a PowerPoint presentation and <br />outlined anticipated capital needs for Rowan-Cabarrus Community College. <br />Following the presentation, Dr. Spalding responded to questions from board <br />members. Janet Spriggs, Chief Operating Officer, and Jonathan Chamberlain, Chief <br />Officer, College Environment were also in attendance. <br />Wrapping Up and Reflections on the Day <br />Mike Downs, County Manager thanked everyone for participating in today's <br />retreat and gave a preview of activities planned for the next day. <br />Recess <br />UPON MOTION by Commissioner Shue, seconded by Commissioner Kiger, and <br />unanimously carried, the meeting recessed at 8:01 p.m. to 8:00 Saturday, <br />January 20, 2018 at the Laureate Cen*atnapolis City Hal <br />H ie Clexk to the Hoard <br />
