August 20, 2018 (Regular Meeting) Page 3652 <br />WHEREAS, children who do not receive adequate financial and emotional support <br />from both parents may experience greater difficulty in becoming healthy, happy, <br />and productive citizens; and <br />WHEREAS, many concerned and dedicated judges, district attorneys, clerks of <br />court, sheriffs' personnel, and child support professionals work to establish <br />and enforce child support orders for Cabarrus County's children, one of our <br />state's most vital resources: <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners <br />does hereby proclaim the month of August as <br />CHILD SUPPORT AWARENESS MONTH IN CABARRUS COUNTY <br />and urges all parents who are currently under court order to regularly pay their <br />child support. <br />Adopted this 201h day of August, 2018. <br />/s/ Stephen M. Morris, Chairman <br />Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners <br />(C-3) DHS - Foster Parent Recognition <br />Jane Cauthen, Department of Human Services (DHS), Social Worker Program <br />Manager, recognized Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Thomas, foster parents in Cabarrus <br />County, who cared for a young child who was separated from her mother and <br />assisted in the return of the child to her mother in another country. <br />Ms. Cauthen expressed her admiration and appreciation for the DHS staff <br />members that sought out resources and information and pursued the process to <br />reunite the child with her mother. She also recognized and commended staff for <br />their extraordinary efforts in assisting in this endeavor. <br />(C-9) Human Resources - Recognition of Chief Deputy Paul Hunt on His Retirement <br />from Cabarrus County Sheriff's Office <br />Sheriff Brad Riley, Cabarrus County Sheriff's Office, recognized Chief <br />Deputy Paul Hunt on his retirement from his position with the Cabarrus County <br />Sheriff's Office. He also highlighted a number of Chief Hunt's accomplishments <br />during his 33 -year tenure with the County. <br />Vice Chairman Honeycutt presented Chief Hunt with a service award in <br />appreciation for his service and dedication to the citizens of Cabarrus County. <br />Chief Deputy Hunt graciously accepted the award and expressed <br />appreciation. He was accompanied by his wife, parents, children and <br />grandchildren. <br />Chairman Morris commended Chief Deputy Hunt for his service. <br />(C-5) ITS - Recognition of 2018 16" Annual Digital Counties Survey Achievement <br />Debbie Brannan, Chief Information Officer, announced the Cabarrus County <br />Information Technology Services (ITS) Department was awarded third place in the <br />2018 16th Annual Digital Counties Survey sponsored by The Center of Digital <br />Government (CDG) in the 150,000 to 299,000 population category. The ITS <br />Department was recognized for their innovation in providing updated and secure <br />technology practices to the County as well as providing access to a wide variety <br />of information to citizens and businesses. <br />(C-6) BOC - Proclamation Honoring the Memory of and Achievements of Martin <br />Boger Foil Jr. <br />Chairman Morris read the proclamation honoring Martin Boger Foil, Jr. <br />aloud. <br />Commissioner Shue MOVED to adopt the proclamation.
