342 <br /> <br /> The Board of Commissioners for the County of Cabarrus met in regular <br />session at the County Courthouse in Concord, North Carolina, on Monday, <br />May 2, 1988, at 3:00 P.M. <br /> Present - Chairman: James W. Lentz <br /> Commissioners: Kenneth F. Payne <br /> William G. Hamby, Jr. <br /> Martha H. Melvin <br /> R. Giles Moss <br /> The invocation was given by Reverend Eldon Wadsworth of the First <br />Presbyterian Church in Kannapolis, North Carolina. <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Melvin, seconded by Commissioner Hamby and <br />unanimously carried, the minutes of April 5, 11, and 18, 1988, were approved <br />as written.' <br /> Chairman Lentz recognized Ms. Linda B. Morgan for achieving the award <br />as a Certified Deputy Tax Collector from the Certification Board of the <br />North Carolina Tax Collectors' Association. <br /> Mr. Mike Byrd, member of the County Planning staff, presented the <br />following recommendations in regards to the duplicate Quay Road names: (1) <br />Section of Quay/Old Holland Road north of 1-85 be changed to Quay Road; (2) <br />Section of Quay/Old Holland Road south of 1-85 be changed to Old Holland <br />Road; (3) Quay Road south of Harrisburg named Crozier Branch Road. <br /> UPON MOTION of Chairman Lentz, seconded by Commissioner Payne and <br />unanimously carried, the Board approved the following recommendations as <br />submitted in a memorandum dated April 25, 1988, from Mr. Mike Byrd of the <br />County Planning Department. <br /> <br /><1) <br /> <br />(2) <br /> <br />The section of Quay/Old Holland Road north of 1-85 will be changed <br />to Quay Road in its entirety. <br />The section of Quay/Old Holland Road south of 1-85 will be changed <br />to Old Holland in its entirety. This will require the street sign <br />in Mecklenburg County being changed from Quay to Old Holland. The <br />Board needs to send the Mecklenburg County Board a letter request- <br />ing this change, and an exception being made from the normal road <br />naming fee in Mecklenburg County. <br /> <br /> Chairman Lentz instructed Mr. Byrd to prepare the letter to be sent to <br />Mecklenburg County in regards to the change from Quay Road to Old Holland <br />Road. <br /> UPON MOTION of Chairman Lentz, seconded by ComMissioner Hamby and <br />unanimously carried, the Board set a public hearing for 7:30 P.M. on Monday, <br />May 16, 1988, to consider the changing of the name of the Quay Road south of <br />Harrisburg to Crozier Branch Road. <br /> UPON MOTION of Chairman Lentz, seconded by Commissioner Melvin and <br />unanimously carried, the Board approved the addition of Marshall Drive to <br />the State road system for maintenance. <br /> UPON MOTION of Chairman Lentz, seconded by Commissioner Melvin and <br />unanimously carried, the Board granted permission to the Cabarrus County <br />Parks and Recreation Department for a fireworks display at Frank Liske Park <br />on June 18, 1988, at 9:15 P.M. A representative of Zambelli Internationale <br />Fireworks Company will be the pyrotechnical expert in charge of the display. <br /> UPON MOTION of Chairman Lentz, seconded by Commissioner Melvin and <br />unanimously carried, the Board authorized the Chairman to sign the Agreement <br />to Provide Professional Accounting Services to Cabarrus County with David M. <br />Griffith & Associates for the preparation of the 1988 Cost Allocation Plan <br />for Cabarrus County at a cost of $9,500.00. <br /> UPON MOTION of Chairman Lentz, seconded by Commissioner Melvin and <br />unanimously carried, the Board authorized the payment of the invoice dated <br />April 20, 1988, from Kimball Associates, P.A. in the amount of $1,411.53 for <br />the Cabarrus County Jail Project. <br /> The following bid was received on April 18, 1988, for the Jail Food <br />Service contract for 1988-89. <br /> <br />First Assembly Food Service <br /> <br />Description <br />Breakfast <br />Lunch <br />Dinner <br /> Total <br />****Includes tax <br /> <br />****Unit Price Per Meal <Individually Boxed) $ 2.03 <br /> $ 2.40 <br /> $ 2.48 <br /> $ 6.91 <br /> <br /> <br />
