The Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners met at a call meeting on Tuesday, April 30, 1963. <br /> <br /> at 2:00 P.M. <br /> <br /> Present: Chairman, Frank James <br /> <br /> Commissioners:: McNeil Petrea, M. Smoot Lyles · <br /> Absent: Oren Hill, Frank McCray · <br /> <br /> This meeting was to receive bids for remodeling of the Courtroom. The bids were read by. <br /> <br /> George Griffin, Architect. Lyles made motion, seconded by Petrea to award Blake Construction Co. <br /> the general remodeling work, and Williams Printing Co., Kannapolis was awarded the bid~ for the <br /> furniture. The commissioners asked for more bids to be obtained for the carpe~ and these be <br /> submitted Monday, May 6, 1963. <br /> <br /> Listed below are the bids received: ..~ · . <br /> <br /> General Contractor-----Blake Construction Co. $14,779. Williams Printing Co. $2,554.24 (awarded) <br /> Kale-Lawing Co. $2,827.74 <br /> Craigs $2,731.46 <br /> <br /> AGREEMENT BETWEEN OWI~ AI~) ARCHITECT- <br />THIS AGREEMENT, made the THIRD day of APRIL, in the year Nineteen hundred and SIXTY THREE by and <br />between THE CABARRUS COUNTY COMMISSIONERS hereinafter called the Owner, and GECRGE A. GRIFFIN, here~ <br />inafter called the ARCHITECT, WITNESSETH, that whereas the Owner intends to REMODEL THE INTERICR CFi <br />THE CABARRUB COUNlmf COURTHOUSE ROOM AI~D ADJACENT AREAS, hereinafter called tbs Work. <br />NOW, THEREFCRE, the Owner and the Architect, for the considerations hereinafter named, agree as <br /> <br /> The Architect agrees to perform, for the above named Work, professional services as hereinafte+ <br />set forth. <br /> The Owner agrees to pay the Architect for such services a fee of SIX (6) per cent of the cost <br />of the work. <br /> The Parties hereto further agree to the following conditions: <br /> 1. THE ARCHITECT tS SERVICES-- The A~chttect's professional services consist of the necessar~ <br />conferences, the preparation of prelimtnsz-~ studies, working drawtn§s, specifications, large scale <br />and full size detail drawings, for architectural, structural, Plumbing, heating, electrical-, and <br />other mechanical work; the drafting of forms of proposals and contracts; the issuance of certificat~;s <br />of ps~zment; the keeping, of accounts, the general administration of the bus,ness ~nd supervision of <br />the Work. <br /> 2. THE ARCHITECT'S FEE-- In case of the abandonment or suspension of the Work or of any part <br />or parts thereof, the Architect is to be paidin proportion to th~ serviess rendered on account of <br />it up to the time of its abandonment or suspension, such proportion being 2~% upon completion of <br />preliminary sketches and 75% upon completion of working drawt'h~ ~and Specifications. ~' ~ <br /> If additional personal service of the Architect is made necessary by delinquency or insolvency <br />of either the O~n~r or the Contractor, or as a result of damage by fire, he shall be equitably paid <br />by the Owner for such extra service. <br /> 3. PAYMENTS-- Payments to the Architect on account of his fee shall be made as follows: <br /> Upon completinn of the preliminary studies, a sum equal to 25% of the basic rate computed upon <br />a reasonable estimated cost. <br /> Upon completion of specifications and general working drawings, a sum sufficient b6 increase <br />payments to 75% of the rate of commission arising from this agreement, computed upon the cost of th~ <br />Work. <br /> From time to time during the exeuction of work and in proportion to the amount of sefvice rend, red <br />by the Architect, payments shall be made until the aggregate of all payments made on account of the <br />fee under this Article shall be a sum equ~ to the rate of commission arising from this agreement, <br />computed upon the final cost of the Work. <br /> 4. II~ORMATION FURNISHED BY OWNSR.-- The Owner shall, so far as the work under this agreement <br />may require, furnish the Architect with the following information: A complete and accurate survey <br />of the building site, giving the grades and lines of streets, pavements, ~nd adjoining properties; <br />the rights, restrictions, easements, bounds/'tes, and contours of the building site, and full in- <br />formation as to sewer, water, gas and electical service. <br /> 5. SUPERVISION (iF THE WCRK-- The Architect will made periodic inspections fo the construction <br />at intervals deemed necessary by him to ascertain that the work is being executed in conformity wit~ <br />contract requirements. <br /> 6. PRE'~IMINARY ESTIMATES--When requested to do so the Architect will furnish preliminary estimates <br />on the cost of the Work, but he does not guarantee such ~stimates. .~ <br /> 7. DEFINITION CF THE COST CF THE WORK-- The cost of the Work, as herein r~erred to, means the i <br />cost to the Owner, but such cost dhall not include any Arthttect's or EngineerS~ or Special consultSnts <br />fees or the cost of a clerk of the works. <br /> 8. OW/~RSHIP CF DOCUMENTS--Drawings and specifications as instruments of service are the property <br />of the Architect whether the work for which they are made be executed or not, 8nd are not to be used <br />on other work except by agreement with the Architect. <br /> <br /> <br />
