Frank James <br /> <br /> Commissioners, McNeil Petrea, Frank McCray, Smoot Lyles <br /> <br />Absent: Commissioner, Oren Hill <br /> <br /> Meeting called to order by Chairman James. Prayer by Rev. Allen. Minutes <br />of July meeting read by Cloie Hancock and stand approved. <br /> <br /> Attorney Cruse met with commissioners concerning the Rockland Sanitary <br />District. No tax assessment had been set for this District and it has been <br />in operation since 1962, therefore the Rockland Sanitary District tax rate <br />is to be set at $1.30 for the year 1965. Lyles made motion, seconded by <br />Petrea to approve the following resolution: Voted for: Lyles, Petrea, James. <br />Abstained from voting: McCray. <br /> <br /> RESOLUTION PROVIDING FOR THE LEVY OF TAXES FOR THE <br /> <br /> ROCKLAND SANITARY DISTRICT <br /> <br /> WHEREAS the following resolution, passed by the Sanitary District Board <br /> of the Rockland Sanitary District on the 31st day of July, 1965, has been <br /> received by the Board of Commissioners for the County of Cabarrus: <br /> BE IT RESOLVED by the Sanitary District Board of Rockland Sanitary District: <br /> 1. That the Sanitary District Board has determined and does hereby <br /> find and declare: <br /> (a) That the funds available from surplus operating revenue as <br /> provided by North Carolina General Statutes 130-144 are not sufficient for <br /> the payment of interest and the retirement of the District's bonds. <br /> (b) That it is estimated the assessed valuation of the property <br /> within the limits of the Rockland Sanitary District amount to approximately <br /> Three Hundred Thousand Dollars. <br /> (c) That a levy of One Dollar and Thirty Cents per One Hundred <br /> Dollars va~luation will produce approximately Three Thousand Nine Hundred Dollars <br /> revenue. <br /> (d) That barring unforeseen and unanticipated expenses the additional <br /> sum of Three Thousand Nine Hundred Dollars will be ample to meet all obligations <br /> of the District during the fiscal year 1965-66. <br /> 2. That the Secretary of the Rockland Sanitary District Board certify <br /> to the Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners for Cabarrus County, North Carolina <br /> that the Sanitary District Board of the Rockland Sanitary District has determined <br /> that a levy of One Dollar and Thirty Cents per One Hundred Dollars valuation of <br /> property within the District's limits is necessary to raise the amount needed <br /> to meet the current obligations of said District, and request that said amount <br /> be included.in the next annual levy to be determined by the Cabarrus County <br /> Board of Commissioners and collected as other County taxes as provided by North <br /> Carolina General Statutes 130-141. <br /> On Motion of Commissioner Smoot L¥1es , seconded by Commissioner <br /> McNeil Petrea , the foregoing--resolution entitled "RESOLUTION PROVIDING <br /> FOR THE LEVY OF TAXES FOR THE ROCKLAND SANITARY DISTRICT" was passed by the <br /> following vote: AYES: Lylep, Petrea~ James <br /> NOES: none ; ABSTAINED FROM VOTING: McCray <br /> <br /> McCray made motion, seconded by Petrea to approve the following resolution, <br /> setting the Royal Oaks Sanitary District tax rate at 65¢ per one hundred dollar <br /> valuation for the year 1965.
