The Cabarrus County Commissioners met at their regular meeting Monday, <br /> <br />October 4, 1965 at 10:00 a.m. in the Courthouse. <br /> <br />Present: Chairman, C. Frank James <br /> <br /> Commissioners, Oren Hill, McNeil Petrea, Smoot Lyles, Frank McCray <br /> <br /> Meeting called to order by Chairman James. Prayer by Rev. F. D. Lamneck. <br /> <br />Mr. Joe Holding requested a copy of the resolution favoring the $300. million <br />road bond be sent to J. M. Hunt, Chairman of State Highway Dept., Raleigh; a copy <br />to Gov. Dan Moore and a copy for his file. Commissioners granted this request. <br /> <br /> Mr. Lewis Lanier, President of Cabarrus County Rescue Squad requested the <br />county to pay ~ of the radio cost for a new truck. Lyles made motion, seconded <br />by Hill to grant this request. Vote carried. <br /> <br /> The clerk read a letter from E. M. Dudley, Chairman of County Commissioners <br />of Caldwell County, thanking the county officials for the courtesy shown them <br />while in Cabarrus County. <br /> <br /> Charlie Brown requested the use of a front spot inside of the Courthouse <br /> <br />to sell candy, gum, etc. for this winter. Commissioners agreed to discuss this <br /> <br />matter and advise him later. <br /> <br /> Gice Allen submitted the Cabarrus County Final Settlement for 1964 taxes <br />for approval. McCray made motion, seconded by Hill to approve this Settlement. <br />Vote carried. (Report found on page ~/~) <br /> <br /> McCray made motion, seconded by Petrea to grant Jay Robinson, Supt. of <br />County Schools and Mr. Fries, Asst. Supt., permission to ~am~ve two parking <br />spaces in the County-City parking lot behind the Board of Education offices on <br />S. Church St. Vote carried. <br /> <br /> Mr. Wingate requested the county to pay for a radio that is to be installed <br /> <br />on new equipment for the Jackson Park Volunteer Fire Dept. Hill made motion, <br />seconded by Lyles for the county to pay ~ of the radio, plus the funds they did <br />not receive in previous purchase to equalize in dollars their amount in com- <br />parison with other volunteer fire departments. Vote carried. <br /> <br /> McCray made motion, seconded by Petrea to approve the following road <br /> <br /> petitions: Vote carried. <br /> <br /> Boyd Street ............
