5O6 <br /> <br /> The regular monthly meeting of the Cabarrus County Commissioners was held at 9:30 A.M. <br /> <br /> on February 6, 1967, with the following members present: <br /> Chairman - C. Frank James <br /> <br /> Commissioners - Rankin, Petrea, Hawfield, and White. <br /> <br /> Meeting was called to order by Chairman James. Minutes were read by Arvonia Cochran and <br /> <br /> stand approved. <br /> <br /> Upon motion by Rankin, seconded by Petrea, Bennet Stewart was appointed to the Zoni6§ <br /> and Planning Board to replace John Burrage. <br /> <br /> Petrea made motion that the Board accept resolution made for small watershed programs <br /> in Cabarrus County. White seconded motion. Vote carried. <br /> <br /> At the request of the Cabarrus Soil and Water Conservation District the Board established <br /> a Watershed Improvement Commission. Upon motion by Rankin, seconded by White, named to the <br /> Commission were William Cook, Old Salisbury Road, Fred H. Harkey, Route l, Mt. Pleasant, and <br /> Carl O. Overcash, Route 2, Concord. Vote was unanimous. <br /> <br /> The One Mile Perimeter Planning and Zoning Board requested that the proposal made by <br /> <br /> Engineer W. E. Cochran, Jr.., in July, 1966, in regard to the first stage of the street renaming <br /> and house renumberin9 program be approved in order that work could be started. Motion was <br /> made by Rankin, seconded by Hawfield to appropriate $800.00 out of the Zoning and Planning <br /> Board budget for this purpose. Vote carried. <br /> <br /> Attorney Brice Willeford, Jr., presented to the Board a resolution on behalf of Frederick <br /> G. Hilbish and wife Alice M. Hilbish requesting approval of the closing of a portion of <br /> Carolina Drive in Township h, said street having previously been officially abandoned by the <br /> North Carolina State Highway Commission. Petrea made motion, seconded by White, to approve <br /> the resolution which appears on page ~bQ ~ and which becomes a part of these minutes. Vote <br /> was unanimous. <br /> <br /> Motion was made by Hawfield, seconded by Petrea, to authorize Chairman C. Frank James to <br /> <br /> execute an agreement between Cabarrus County and Southern Railway Company terminating the <br /> <br /> ~ occupation in use of the old Southern Fr~i§ht Depot effective January 1, 1967. Vote carried. <br /> <br /> A letter to the Board fromM rs. C. E. ~mall, Township 11, requesting refund of taxes paid <br /> <br /> on property listed on late husband's abstract which had also been listed and paid by her son. <br /> Hawfield made motion, seconded by White to refund within the statute of limitation those taxes <br /> in question. Vote carried. <br /> <br /> A discussion of the medical examiner system was held action withheld until next budget. <br /> <br /> <br />
