The regular monthly meeting of the Cabarrus County Commissioners was held <br /> <br />at 9:30 A.M. on June 2, 1969, at the Courthouse with the following members present: <br />Chairman C. Frank James; Commissioners - Dr. R. B. Rankin, Jr., Robert A. l~21ary <br />C. McNeil Petrea, and S. Glenn Hawfteld, Jr. Chairman James called the meeting <br />to order. Prayer was by the Reverend Gilbert Pierce. Minutes were read and <br />a ppr oved. <br /> <br /> A discussion was had on the water problem at Harrisburg. Commissioner Rankin <br />urged the Board to act quickly and Commissioner Hawfteld stated that the C~ut~Jz <br />Zoning and Planning Board would meet later in the week with Harrisburg leaders to <br />discuss the problem. <br /> <br /> Ranktn made motion, seconded by Petrea, to accept audit contract in the <br />amount 6f $~500.00 from Daniel and Daniel C.P.A. 'S . Vote was unanimous. <br /> <br /> Resolutions prepared by the New York Bond Attorney firm Mitchell, Petty, <br />and Bbatterly were presented to the Board regarding $28(~,O00.O0,school building <br />bonds anticipatt~u.'notes. Upon motion by McClary, se¢oncLed by Ranktn, and <br />unanimously approved, the resolution was adopted as presented. This resolution <br /> <br />is recorded on page and becomes a part of these minutes. <br /> <br /> A request by the City of Concord for 15 feet of the Courthouse land on Means <br />Street for the purpose of widening the street was discussed. Rankin made motion, <br />seconded by Petrea, that 15 feet of the Means Street land be given to the City of <br />Concord to provide an additional traffic lane,' a wide sidewalk, no parking on <br />Means Street, and no meter parking on South Union Street in front of the Court- <br />house; also that this transaction l~ot.~'~ consumated until the existing Jail and <br />the taxi station are tor~ down. Vote was unanimous. <br /> <br /> Ranktn made motion, seconded by McClary, that 25d parking meter gates be <br /> <br /> installed on the McEachern Blvd. entrance to the County parking lot on Church St, <br /> <br />with the present Church Street entrances closed. Vote was unanimous, <br /> <br /> A letter written by the County Manager to l~Ir. Floyd Medlln in response to <br /> <br />previous complaints concerning the Rockland Sanitary District was brought to the <br />attention ofthe Board by Commissioner Rankin. After a discussion, the Board <br />considered the matter closed inasmuch as the County had no Jurisdiction in <br />this particular matter, <br /> <br /> Health Director Alfred J. Klimas requested categorical changes in the current <br />Health Dept. budget which would not change the budget total. McClary mad~ motion, <br />seconded by Rankin, to approve these adjustments. <br /> <br /> <br />
