Frank James, <br /> <br /> Charles Gal ltmore, John Ha~ett <br /> <br /> Invocation was by the Reverend Howard Al]red, Epworth Hethodtst <br /> <br />Church. <br /> <br /> Ninutes of meetings of April 5 and April 19, ]97] were read~ <br /> <br /> Bids received on a pane] truck for the Health Department were: <br /> Bi]] Bove Notor Co. - $2,855.00 <br /> Beasley-Cross Chevrolet - $2,780.O0 <br /> DeWitt Notor Company - $2,788.53 <br /> Art Thomas Chevrolet - $2,888.64 <br /> Htlbtsh Ford - $2,7]9.79 <br /> <br /> Contract was awarded to Htlbtsh Ford, low bidder, on morton by <br /> <br />NcClary, seconded by James and unanimously carried. <br /> <br /> A delegation from Fred L~. Wi]son School, headed by Ralph Goodnight, <br /> <br />appeared requesting sidewalk construction, so children would have a <br />place to walk besides in road. Hawfte]d said he had talked with Frank <br />NcCray and no funds are available for sidewalk construction, but the <br />Board would be glad to endorse their idea. <br /> <br /> Commissioners set budget meetings for Hay ]7, 20, 24 and 27, in <br /> <br />the Commissioners' room at the Courthouse, from 3 to 6 p.m. on each of <br /> <br />those days. <br /> <br /> The Board will sit at the Cabarrus County Board of EquAlization <br /> <br />and Review Nay ]0, ]97l, to discuss appeals to the Board. <br /> <br /> Only two bids on the demolition of County buildings on Church <br /> <br />Street were received; North Carolina Statutes require three bids for <br />County projects for which the anticipated cost will be more than <br />$7,500.00. <br /> <br /> The project will be re-advertised, and bids opened at the June <br /> <br />7 Board meeting. <br /> <br /> Dr. Ladd W. Hamrick, Jr., representing Hid-Piedmont Health <br /> <br />Planning Agency asked Commissioners to consider budgeting $l,600.OO <br />in the 1971-1972 County budget. Chairman Hawfteid requested County <br />Accountant Fred T. Riley send Dr. Hamrick, Jr. a form for submitting <br />the Agency's budget request. <br /> <br /> On motion by NcClary, seconded by Galltmore and carried unanimously, <br />Commissioners endorsed a bill introduced in the General Assembly by <br />Senator Ralph W. Scott setting up a $5,000.OO homestead exemption for <br />aged and indigent homeowners with an annual income of less than $3,500.00. <br /> <br /> <br />
