The Board of Commissioners for the County of Cabarrus met in regular session at the Courthouse in Concord, North Carolina on January 7, 1974 at 9~00 a.m. Present = Chairman~ S. Glenn Hawfield, Jr. Comnissioners~ Robert A. NcClary C. Frank James John A. H~m~ett Absent o Commissioneri Charles Gallimore The invocation was by Commissioner Hammett. The minutes of the December 3, 197~ meetinsvere read and approved. Ervin N. Funderburke, Jr. the Area Director for Piedmont Nental Health Clinic gave a report on their activities for the p&s~ year. Hawfield announced that the following people had been appointefl to the Local Petroleum Allocation Board~ Flay Kiser, Grady Carpenter, Bill Babb, Charles A. Ja~es, Giles Nisenheimer and Nelvin Howell. The Board instructed that a letter be written to Wayne Harrelson thankin$ him for his services~i~t~ePiedmont Nental Health Clinic. Hammett made motion that the following people and term expiration dates be appointed to the Health Board~ Joe Pike December 31, 1976, Dr. Linny Baker December 31, 1976, S. Glenn Hawfield, Jr. December 31, 1974, Hrs. C. Frank James December 31, 1974, Gerose Byers December 31, 1975, George Kiser December 31, 197§ and Wallaae Early December 31, 1974. NcClary seconded the motion and vote cariled. Charles Bost reportin~ for Community Relations Comnission stated that Dr. Hooverts case had not come before the commission due to the fact that he had not come to a meeting but that they had extended an invitation to Dr. Hoover to attend a meeting. Rev. Koehneke presented the 6o~munity Relations Commissionts annual report. Pursuant to a request by John Foster, Chief of Poplar Tent Volunteer Fire Department, H~wett mede motion that the County Attorney check into the matter of a state fire code or draw up a county ordinance concerning fire hazards. NcClary made motion to accept audit report as presented by Skip Daniels. Notion seconded by James and vote carried. George Nonashan, Glenn Brooks and Frances Long presented the Nutrition Program for the Elderly. NcClary made motion to adopt the program on a two-year basis or as long as it is federally funded. James secondeg the motion and vote carried. The Board de~ided to have a special meeting, January 18, 1974, at lit30 a.m. to accept bids for the Nutrition Peogram for the Elderly. Ha__~mett made motion, seconded by NcClary and carried, to accept the resolution on Cabarrus Council on Aging.
