The Board of Commissioners for the County of Cabarrus met in regular <br />session at the Courthouse in Concord, North Carolina on Thursday, January 6, 1977 <br />at 9:30 a.m. <br /> <br /> Present - Chairman: S. Glenn Hawfield, Jr. <br /> <br /> Commissioners: Robert A. McClary <br /> John A. Hammett. <br /> Marcelle Milloway <br /> Troy R. Cook <br /> <br /> The Reverend John Magnuson, Jr., Associate Pastor of Central United <br />Methodist Church gave the invocation. <br /> <br /> Commissioner Milloway made motion to approve the minutes of the last <br />meeting. Motion seconded by Commissioner Cook and vote carried. <br /> <br /> Architect George Griffin reported that bids for the automotive service <br />shelter had been received and all bids were higher than expected. The bids <br /> <br />were as follows: <br /> <br />Cabarrus Construction Company <br />Craver Realty and Development Company <br />Fink & Barrier <br />Kluttz Brothers <br /> <br />$9,522 <br /> 8,900 <br /> 7,420 <br /> 7,355 <br /> <br />Commissioner McClary made motion to accept Mr. Griffin's recommendation and <br />not award bids at this time and review the matter further. Motion seconded <br />by Commissioner Hammett and vote carried. <br /> <br /> Upon motion of Commissioner Milloway, seconded by Commissioner Hammett <br /> <br />and carried, the following budget amendment was adopted: <br /> <br /> BE IT ORDAINED by the Board of Commissioners of the County of <br /> <br /> Cabarrus, North Carolina that the following amendment be made to the <br /> <br /> budget ordinance for the fiscal year ending June 30, 1977: <br /> <br /> To provide for the renovation of the old health department building <br /> Revenue Sharing <br /> Revenue <br /> <br /> Federal Grant - Revenue Sharing 325,000.00 <br /> Expenditures <br /> Renovation $75,000.00 <br /> <br /> Copies of this budget amendment shall be delivered to the Finance <br /> Officer and the Budget Officer for their direction in the disbursement <br /> of funds. <br /> <br /> Commissioner Cook made motion to award the bids for renovation of a <br />building for Department of Social Serv ice to the low bidders: General <br />Contractor - Laxton Construction Company, Inc. $127,550, Plumbing Contractor - <br />Kannapolis Service Company - $12,007, Mechanical Contractor - G & S Metal Company <br /> <br /> <br />
