179 <br /> <br />The Board of Commissioners for the County of Cabarrus, <br /> <br />North Carolina, met in adjourned regular session in the <br /> <br />Commissioners' Room in the County Courthouse in Concord, <br /> <br />North Carolina, the regular place of meeting, at 4:00 P. M., <br /> <br />on July 20, 1978. <br /> <br />Present: Chairman - S. Glenn Hawfield, Jr. <br /> <br />Commissioners - Robert A. McClary <br /> John A. Hammett <br /> Marcelle Milloway <br /> Troy R. Cook <br /> <br />Chairman Hawfield stated the purpose of the meeting was <br /> <br />to consider a resolution to notify the Local Government Com- <br /> <br />mission of our intent to issue $9,800,000 Sanitary Sewer <br /> <br />Bonds, $8,000,000 School Bonds, and $900,000 Water Bonds. <br /> <br />Mr. John Boger, County Attorney, read the following <br /> <br />resolutions of adoption by the Cabarrus County Board of Edu- <br /> <br />cation, Kannapolis City Board of Education, and Concord City <br /> <br />Board of Education. <br /> <br />RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />FOR THE COUNTY OF CABARRUS TO PROVIDE ADDITIONAL <br />SCHOOL FACILITIES IN THE CABARRUS COUNTY ADMINIS- <br />TRATIVE UNIT. <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED by The Cabarrus County Board of Education: <br /> <br /> Section I. The Cabarrus County Board of Education has <br />determined and found as a fact that adequate school facilities <br />are not now available in the Cabarrus County Administrative <br />Unit to comply with the requirements of Section 2 of Article <br />IX of the Constitution of North Carolina for the maintenance <br />of schools nine months in every year and that it is necessary, <br />in order to maintain such nine months' school term as required <br />by said Section 2 of Article IX of the Constitution, to <br />provide additional school facilities in said Unit by erecting <br />additional school buildings and other school plant facilities, <br />~remodeling, enlarging and reconstructing existing school <br />buildings and other school plant facilities, and acquiring <br />any necessary land and equipment therefor, the estimated <br />cost of which is $4,500,000. <br /> <br /> Section 2. The Board of Commissioners for the County of <br />Cabarrus is requested to take all necessary steps, by the <br />issuance of bonds or otherwise, in order that funds may be <br />provided for such school facilities. <br /> <br /> Section 3. A copy of this resolution shall immediately <br />be certified to the Board of Commissioners for said County. <br /> <br /> Upon motion duly made and seconded, the foregoing <br />resolution was passed by the following vote: <br /> <br />Ayes: <br /> <br />Joseph E.
