183 <br /> <br /> The Board of Commissioners for the County of Cabarrus met <br /> <br />in regular session at the Courthouse in Concord, North Carolina <br />on Thursday, August 10, 1978, at 9:30 A. M. <br /> <br /> Present - Chairman: S. Glenn Hawfield, Jr. <br /> <br /> Commissioners: Robert A. McClary <br /> John A. Hammett <br /> Marcelle Milloway <br /> Troy R. Cook <br /> <br /> The invocation was given by the Reverend Lanny Vincent of <br />Covenant Presbyterian Church. <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Cook, seconded by Commissioner <br />Hammett and unanimously carried, the minutes of June 29th, 1978, <br />July 17, 1978, and July 20, 1978 were approved. <br /> <br /> Mr. McGinnis, County Manager, reported to the Board that <br /> <br /> the City was not ready to make a decision at this time concerning <br /> the Cablevision Franchise. Mr. McGinnis informed the Board of <br /> the Concord City Board of Aldermen's meeting to be held August <br /> 10, 1978 at 7:00 P. M. at which time the Cablevision Franchise <br /> will be discussed. <br /> <br /> In order to approve appropriations to the Boys Club, Rescue <br /> Squads, Volunteer Fire Departments, and the Cabarrus Workshop, <br /> the Board discussed the feasibility of obtaining written <br /> contracts between Cabarrus County and the above referenced organi- <br /> zations. <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Hammett, seconded by Commis- <br /> sioner Cook and unanimously carried, the Board authorized the <br /> County Attorney, John Boger, to draft a contract and submit it <br /> at the next regular meeting of the Board. <br /> <br /> Chairman Hawfield asked if anyone would like to speak for <br /> or against the renaming of Arbor Lane to Birnam Wood. <br /> upON MOTION of Commissioner Hammett, seconded by Commis- <br /> sioner Cook and unanimously carried, the road name change from <br /> Arbor Lane to Birnam Wood was approved. <br /> <br /> Chairman Hawfield asked if anyone would like to speak for <br /> or against the renaming of Evergreen Street to Stacybrook Drive. <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Hammett, seconded by Commis- <br /> sioner Cook and unanimously carried, the road name change from <br /> Evergreen Street to Stacybrook Drive was approved. <br /> <br /> <br />
