361 <br /> <br /> The Board of Commissioners for the County of Cabarrus met in regular session <br />at the Courthouse in Concord, N~rth Carolina on Monday, December 10, 1979 at <br />9:30 A.M. <br /> Present - Chairman: Troy R. Cook <br /> Commissioners: Ralph C. Bonds <br /> Marcelle Milloway <br /> James W. Lentz <br /> J. Ray Allen <br /> The invocation was given by the Reverend Charles T. Davis of the Center <br />United Methodist Church. <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Lentz, seconded by Commissioner Bonds and unanimously <br />carried, the minutes of November 13, 1979 were approved. <br /> Mr. Charles D. McGinnis, County Manager, presided over the reorganization of <br />the Board. <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Allen, seconded by Commissioner Bonds and unanimously <br />carried, the Board re-elected Chairman Cook as Chairman. <br /> UPON MOTION of Chairman Cook, seconded by Commissioner Lentz and unanimously <br />carried, the Board re-elected Commissioner Bonds as Vice-Chairman. Chairman Cook presided over the remainder of the meeting. <br /> Mr. G. E. Johnson of the County's Audit Firm of Sherrill and Smith CPAs was <br />present to review the County's annual audit for the fiscal year 1978-79 with the <br />Commissioners. <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Lentz, seconded by Commissioner Milloway and <br />unanimously carried, the Board moved to table until the January meeting any action <br />on a resolution for the formal abandonment of sixteen secondary road numbers in <br />the County as requested by the North Carolina Department of Transportation. The <br />Board instructed Mr. W. S. Chandler, Jr., Planning Director, to measure the <br />footage of all the roads in question to verify the accuracy of the report from <br />the State and report his findings to the Board at the next regular meeting on <br />January 14, 1980. <br /> UPON MOTION of Chairman Cook, seconded by Commissioner Lentz and unanimously <br />carried, the Board moved to delay action on a resolution to add Scalybark Trail - <br />SR 1524 - to the state road system for maintenance until the next regular meeting. <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Lentz, seconded by Commissioner Allen and <br />unanimously carried, the Board moved to propose the name of 12th Fairway Drive <br />as a suitable name change for Belshire Drive. <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Bonds, seconded by Commissioner Lentz and <br />unanimously carried, the Board approved the following road name changes. <br /> <br />FROM TO <br />Unnamed Road Maderia Drive <br />Unnamed Road Trail Road <br />Copeland Place Diploma Place <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Lentz, seconded by Commissioner Bonds and <br />unanimously carried, the Board designated January 14, 1980 at 7:00 P.M. as the <br />date and time for a public hearing for the following road name changes. <br /> <br />FROM <br />Belshire Drive <br />Terrace Drive <br />Unnamed Road <br />Unnamed Road <br />Arbor Acres Road <br />Willow Ann Drive <br /> <br />TO <br />12th Fairway Drive <br />Treasure Drive <br />Preslar Lane <br />Lois Drive <br />Concord Farms Road <br />Mistywood Lane <br /> <br /> Mr. Manuel Kiser, member of the Cabarrus County Board of Health, was present <br />to request that Dr. Linny Baker not be reappointed to the Board of Health. <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Lentz, seconded by Commissioner Bonds and <br />unanimously carried, the Board reappointed Freeman C. Slaughter, D.D.S., to <br />the Cabarrus County Board of Health for a three-year.term ending December 31 1982. <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Milloway, seconded by Commissioner Lentz and <br />unanimously carried, the Board reappointed Mr. Mitchell W. Watts to the Cabarrus <br />County Board of Health for a thme~vear term ending December 31, 1982. <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Milloway, seconded by Commissioner Lentz and <br />unanimously carried, the Board appointed Dr. J. Hugh Malone to the Cabarrus County <br />Board of Health for a three-year term ending December 31, 1982. <br /> <br /> <br />
