NC Agriculture Cost Share Program Report - Ken Couch <br />Page 3 of 5 <br />a) Fred Motley is contemplating resuming cropping land in CC -G contract <br />(William C. Cannon, Jr. 13- 93- 02 -16). Contract total was 5 acres, but <br />disturbance will not be significant. <br />b) Lee Johnston (13- 94- 20 -16) inquired about selling some trees off of his <br />NCACSP CC -T contract. A nursery has approached him about buying <br />and digging some trees. Matt Kinane and Dennis Testerman explained <br />the prorated rates for repayment to him. It was suggested that the buyer <br />take trees from alternate rows as in a precommercial thinning. <br />C) Richard L. Watershed Improvement Commission - Dennis Testerman <br />The Clarke Creek Watershed Steering Committee toured the watershed with <br />representatives of the State Wetlands Restoration Program on November 23. <br />1999, to discuss funding opportunities for watershed planning and restoration <br />projects. <br />7. Natural Heritage Advisory Committee <br />a) The contract with the State Natural Heritage Program has been extended <br />through June 2000. Reports on aquatic, plant and wildlife resources will <br />be submitted by March for comments. <br />b) Staff assisted NRCS's State plant materials specialist with collection of <br />more native warm season grass seed from the Suther prairie. <br />C) Jeff Michael of the Land Trust for Central North Carolina gave a slide <br />presentation at the November meeting. Staff has assisted the Land Trust <br />with a proposal to purchase conservation easements and protect a <br />Cabarrus County farm through the State farmland preservation program. <br />
