<br />November 15, 2004 <br /> <br />Page <br /> <br />673 <br /> <br />BUDGET REVISION/AMENDMENT REQUEST <br /> <br />DEPARTMENT OF EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT <br />AMOUNT: $500,000.00 <br />TYPE OF ADJUSTMENT: Supplemental Request <br />PURPOSE OF REQUEST: To appropriate the Department of Crime Control and <br />Public Safety Cabarrus County Towers - 2004 grant via the State Homeland <br />Security Grant Program of the U. S. Department of Homeland Security. Grant <br />funding will be utilized to construct two emergency service radio <br />communications towers and service buildings. These <br />funds are to be used to equip Cabarrus County first responder agencies with <br />equipment for response to terrorist or Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) <br />incidents. This grant has been designed for communications related <br />equipment. The grant allocation will create and promote a Citizen Corps <br />Council and create a Community Emergency Response Team (CERT). These funds <br />are to be used for City and County Citizen Corps Councils for training and <br />education of citizens in disaster preparedness.
