E <br />VOTING BY ADOPTION COMMITTEE <br />Members of the Child and Family Team, including the child's Guardian ad Litem and Community <br />member, are invited to give input on the child's strengths and needs relative to adoptive <br />placement, but are not voting members. It is imperative that all available information be <br />provided to Adoption Committee by the Child and Family Team, including the foster family. <br />Voting members are actual standing members on Adoption Committee. A quorum of three is <br />required for all decisions and all non - voting members are asked to leave once input has been <br />shared and prior to deliberations /voting. While consensus decision making is preferred, <br />Adoption Committee decisions require at least a majority of the quorum. <br />CRITERIA FOR SELECTION OF AN ADOPTIVE FAMILY: <br />❑ The family's ability to meet the physical, emotional and mental needs of the child; <br />❑ The compatibility between the child's personal characteristics and the expectations of all <br />members of the adoptive family; <br />❑ The specific experiences and /or training the family has had that prepares them to provide for <br />the special needs the child may have; <br />❑ The resources in the family's community that are available to meet the child's special needs; <br />❑ The degree to which the family is willing to initiate and participate in medical and /or <br />therapeutic treatment, if the child is in need; and <br />❑ The degree to which the family can accept the child's need for contact with siblings, other birth <br />family members and /or foster family, if such need is indicated. <br />CONFIDENTIALITY OF ADOPTION COMMITTEE <br />Confidentiality regarding the adoptive process is mandated by both legal and ethical standards. <br />All Committee members will be required to sign Confidentiality Statements which will be <br />maintained by the Adoption Worker of the Adoption Committee. Committee members cannot <br />individually share with the child or the prospective applicants the specifics discussed in the <br />Committee. <br />SOCIAL WORKER DUTIES AFTER PLACEMENT SELECTION <br />❑ Once a placement decision has been reached, the Committee will discuss with the social worker <br />how, when and by whom the decision will be shared with the children as well as the <br />prospective family. The child shall be provided with specific information about the family, their <br />home, pets and anticipated visits for the placement process. <br />❑ During the adoption process, the agency will be cooperating with the adoptive parents in the <br />legal adoption procedure. The supervising agency has the responsibility for preparing and filing <br />necessary information and confidential reports to the Clerk of Superior Court. The family should <br />1303 S.
