f. Shelter staff updates shelter residents of the status of the emergency and when shelter <br />residents will be able to transition back to their homes. <br />g. During shelter operations, the following activities and tasks take place: <br />1) Shelter Registration and Intake Processing <br />• Set -up and implement the shelter registration and intake area equipment and <br />support using predetermined staffing models. <br />• Receive and process shelter residents as they self - present at the shelter <br />location. <br />• Triage any medical, functional needs, non - English speaking needs, <br />animal /pet, and assess for any communicable diseases. <br />• Provide media and public information to shelter residents so they remain <br />informed of the current emergency and the types of services that are available <br />at the shelter location. <br />• Integrate law enforcement services into the registration and intake area as <br />needed/required. <br />• Conduct a resource gap analysis and request additional mass care /emergency <br />resources or support as needed and identified via the registration and intake <br />processing. <br />2) Assessment and Provision of Functional Needs Support Services <br />• Provide replacement or loaned durable medical equipment if needed. <br />• Provide additional assistance due to limited English proficiency or functional <br />needs. <br />• Provide care to individuals unable to care for themselves until reunification <br />or other options become available. <br />• Support service animal areas and feeding. <br />• Arrange and provide resource /supplies for special dietary needs, as needed. <br />• Provide para - transit transportation resources, as needed. <br />• Provide information in alternative formats on functional needs support <br />available and on impact area conditions and status to those in shelters and <br />medical facilities and in the community. <br />Cabarrus County EOP — Annex L — Shelter and Mass Care <br />F -6 <br />Attachment umber 12 <br />Page 270 <br />
