grains, spent hops, wastepaper, wood, tar, plastic, asphalt residues, residues fi•om refining or <br />processing of fuel or lubricating oil, ground paper products, and material from grinders, residues or <br />solids from a pretreatment facility, and similar substances. <br />(3) Petroleum, cutting or mineral oils. Petroleum oil, non - biodegradable cutting oil, or products of <br />mineral oil origin, in amounts that will cause interference or pass through. <br />(4) Corrosive wastes. Any wastewater having a pl4 less than 5.0 or more than 9.0 or wastewater having <br />any other corrosive property capable of causing damage to the POTW(s) or equipment. <br />(5) POTW interference. Any wastewater containing pollutants, including oxygen- demanding <br />pollutants, (BOD, etc.), released in a discharge at a flow volume, flow rate and/or pollutant <br />concentration which, either singly or by interaction with other pollutants, to cause interference with <br />the POTW. <br />(6) Temperature limit. Any wastewater having a temperature greater than one hundred fifty (150) <br />degrees Fahrenheit (sixty -six (66) degrees Celsius), or which will inhibit biological activity in the <br />POTW treatment plant resulting in interference, but in no case wastewater which causes the <br />temperature at the introduction into the treatment plant to exceed one hundred four (104) degrees <br />Fahrenheit (forty (40) degrees Celsius). <br />(7) Toxic gases. Any pollutants which result in the presence of toxic gases, vapors or fumes within the <br />POTW in a quantity that may cause acute worker health and safety problems. <br />(8) Truck or hauled pollutants. Any truck or hauled pollutants, except at discharge points designated by <br />the Executive Director in accordance with Section 2.9 of this ordinance. <br />(9) Oils and grease. Fats, oils, or greases of animal or vegetable origin in concentrations greater than 100 <br />mg11 unless authorized by the Executive Director. <br />(10) Noxious materials. Any noxious or malodorous solids, liquids or gases, or other wastewater which <br />either singly or by interaction with other wastes are sufficient to create a public nuisance or hazard to <br />life or are sufficient to prevent entry into the sewers for maintenance and repair. <br />(11) Improperly shredded garbage. Garbage that has not been ground or comminuted to such a degree <br />that all particles will be carried freely in suspension under flow conditions normally prevailing in the <br />public sewers, with no particle greater than one -half inch in any dimension. <br />(12) Radioactive wastes. Any wastewater containing any radioactive wastes or isotopes except as <br />specifically approved by the Executive Director in compliance with applicable State or Federal <br />regulations, <br />(13) Toxic substances. Any wastewater discharge which alone or in combination with other wastewater <br />causes the treatment plant effluent to violate 'State Water Quality Standards for toxic substances as <br />described in 15A NCAC 213.0200. <br />(14) Unpolluted waters. Storm water, surface water, ground water, artisan well water, roof runoff, <br />subsurface drainage, swimming pool drainage, condensate, deionized water, noncontact cooling water <br />and unpolluted industrial wastewater, unless specifically authorized by the ]Executive Director, No <br />person shall connect or cause to be connected to the sanitary sewer system any pipe or conduit which <br />will allow discharge from any inflow sources listed in this section into the sanitary sewer system. <br />15 <br />Attachment number 3 <br />H -3 Page 270 <br />
