Community Impact <br />The following is a list of perceived benefits that a vibrant relationship between Woodson University, <br />Cabarrus County, and the Midland community would bring. <br />1) Academic benefits — the university could provide specialized reduced cost training in an array of <br />technical and liberal arts certificates through the university's partnerships with vocational training <br />companies and the university's continuing education department. In addition a positive private /public <br />relationship could be implemented to successfully construct, staff, and stock a community library. <br />2) Economic benefits — the university can add economic value to the Cabarrus County /Town of <br />Midland through the opening of bid processes with special consideration given to local businesses in <br />support of the sustainable local economy efforts of the county. There would be an additional number of <br />individuals who would visit the town inclusive of prospective students, students, faculty, staff, and <br />private partners would increase the amount of dollars spent in Caban us County/Midland businesses. <br />The university would also request that its construction manager at request provide special consideration <br />to local Midland businesses. <br />3) Social benefits — the university will provide cultural arts, special lectures, and workshops for the <br />community. This along with special event nights and etc. would work to foster a positive working and <br />neighborly relationship with Cabarrus County /Midland citizens. In addition a positive private /public <br />relationship could be implemented to successfully construct, staff, and stock a community library. <br />Proposed Campus Usage <br />Woodson University would like to purchase the Old Bethel School property and develop it into <br />our college campus and, civic center, business center, and preparatory academy day school. The ten <br />acres of land perfect situated on Highway 24/27 positions the university in the middle of three counties <br />and provides land on which the university and community could grow. In this document you will find <br />the initial plans the university plans to implement post purchase. <br />The university has particular interest in using the current athletic field that is situated directly on <br />Highway 24/27 to house temporary academic and administrative facilities. It is estimated that this <br />could be implemented within the first ten to twelve months of campus occupation. <br />Building A (Two Story Building) — This building consists of 30, 672 square feet. This building would <br />be renovated and rehabilitated to its previous usage as an administrative building, media center, and <br />auditorium. This building would house the Office of the President, Office of the Provost, Admissions, <br />Registrar, Learning Resource Center, Office of Business and Finance, Classrooms, and Faculty office <br />space. Space would be made available to civic organizations, the Town of Midland and Cabarrus <br />County for housing of administrative programs. This building would be targeted first structure to <br />become operational. <br />Building B (Gymnasium) — This building consists of 9,400 square feet. The gymnasium would be <br />renovated to serve an athletic facility, per its original usage. This facility would be used to hold <br />university and community athletic events. Major renovations seemed necessary include the installation <br />of a sprinkler system and roof repair or replacement. <br />The information contained in this document is privileged, proprietary, and intended solely for the purpose of the Woodson University bid for purchase of <br />the Old Bethel School property.
