Building C (Classroom Wing) — This building consists of 8,816 square feet. This building would be <br />renovated to house extended computer labs, multipurpose classrooms, and a community library. <br />Building D (Dining Hall) — This building consists of 6,150 square feet, of which 2,300 square feet is <br />open space (dining hall). This building would be utilized for its original purpose as a dining hall for <br />students, day camps and etc. <br />Building E (Vocational Building) — This building consists of 8,860 square feet, four large open bay <br />rooms. This building could be converted into a community center facility, with game rooms, bowling <br />alley and a mini arcade or possibly converted into a small residence hall. <br />Athletic Fields — These fields we be converted into regulation appropriate athletic fields for football, <br />soccer, softball, and baseball. The university would partner with local community organization, <br />possibly the Bethel Athletic Organization as a home for sports activity. <br />Project Phases — The following phases are based upon a project transfer date of the property to <br />Woodson University by July 21, 2012. Some phases and initiatives may overlap time frames and or <br />may be continuous. <br />Phase 1: Community Engagement July /August 2012 <br />• Establishment of a community advisory committee consisting of Midland citizens, business <br />owners, Midland government staff and elected officials, Cabarrus County officials, Woodson <br />University staff and Trustees. <br />• Host a Community Listening Forum in July 2012. This forum will provide an opportunity to <br />have a candid open and frank discussion with town and county citizens on what their vision for the Old <br />Bethel School. It is of serious importance to the university to take into account the needs and wishes of <br />the community. Also a presentation of preliminary strategies the university wants to employ towards <br />successful restoration of the property. <br />Phase 2: Facility Assessment Phase — July 2012/December 2012 <br />Campus Landscaping (i.e. shrubbery, lawn care, trash pickup) <br />Erection of security fence, and appropriate campus signage. <br />• Determination of required zoning policies /ordinances to erect temporary academic and <br />administrative space on the campus. (WSACC, Midland Zoning Administrator, Cabarrus County <br />Officials) <br />• Determination of required zoning policies /ordinances and athletic standards to make athletic <br />fields accessible and usable. (WSACC, Midland Zoning Administrator, Cabarrus County Officials) <br />Asbestos and Hazardous material inspection <br />Structural Integrity review <br />6 <br />The information contained in this document is privileged, proprietary, and intended solely for the purpose of the Woodson University bid for purchase of <br />the Old Bethel School property.
