CABARRUS COUNTY FIRE PROTECTION STUDY <br />Leslie D. Adams <br />Mr. Les Adams would serve as the corporate principle and on -site project director. Mr. <br />Adams, the former deputy fire chief of a combination paid/volunteer fire, rescue and EMS <br />county system in Maryland, and volunteer fire chief in Queen Anne's County, Maryland, has <br />30 years of fire /EMS management experience. He has served as the operations deputy fire <br />chief of a fire department that serves 850,000 residents with paid and volunteer firefighters <br />and rescue personnel. As a practitioner in the fire service, Mr. Adams has managed fire <br />operations with 33 fire stations, 1,400 paid and volunteer (600) personnel, 31 engines, 14 <br />ladder trucks, 35 Basic Life Support units, 13 Advanced Life Support units and 120 <br />paramedics. He has been responsible for all duties of fire services, including personnel <br />management, planning and research, facilities, apparatus, training, dispatch, administration, <br />and operations. <br />He has served as a volunteer member of four volunteer fire departments, essentially at all <br />ranks and administrative positions, in developing communities, including his current <br />department—the Kent Island (MD) Volunteer Fire Department. <br />Mr. Adams has served as a fire department and rescue squad /FMS consultant for 22 years <br />in 55 cities and counties. <br />He has taught at the National Fire Academy on modern techniques in fire services operations <br />and has been on the faculty of Montgomery Community College teaching Fire Science <br />Administration. <br />Mr. Adams has served as the Chairman of the International Association of Fire Chiefs <br />(IAN C) Personnel Management Committee And, he has been a peer assessor with the <br />Commission on Fire Accreditation International. <br />He holds a B.S. in Business Administration from the Columbia Union College, and has <br />completed course work on a Masters degree in General Administration. <br />/ f i s Pubfi.
