RFP Response for Springfield Free Public Library
1. The ILS must be able to interface with a self- checkout machine and
with a Checkpoint radio - frequency security system using RF labels ✓
that allows borrowers to check out their own materials.
Brief Vendor Comment (if necessary):
Vendor to highlight Circulation strengths it feels its ILS has for the library. (Insert sheets as
required)
TLC: Library-Solution features the familiarity of Windows@ and Web interfaces, so your users
have no learning curve to delay their use of your new system. These and other features make
your job easier and your users' use of your library more rewarding.
Everything in circulation is all on one page. It makes it easier to navigate. The system was
designed with the needs of a busy public library in mind. Other vendors are geared to academic
libraries where staff can sometimes snooze between check outs. Think the software reflects
that? Probably. Our design is reflective of working with mainly public libraries in a competitive
market. The software reflects today's look and feel with the needs of a busy public library in
mind.
The ENTIRE circulation interface is customizable. Everything from the layout to the color to the
tabs that display and how they display is editable. Columns can be grouped and sorted on
demand if authorized.
The system is designed to be used with or without a mouse. Short cuts are readily available.
For instance, hitting the f2 key opens the check out screen, hitting the f3 key opens the check
in screen, hitting "Esc" closes an open window, hitting the f7 key opens any blocks on a patron
for review.
TLC has been perfecting this solution for busy public libraries for over 35 years in the industry.
The circulation interface recently got a makeover and ALL, of our over 850 Library. Solution
installations, received the enhancement at no extra charge. It would have been easy to sell this
as a "new" system considering all of our other enhancements (LS2 PAC /LS2 KIDS). Bottom
line, TLC does not nickel and dime the library.
April 1, 2010 The Library Corporation Page 11
F -12
Attachment number 3
Page 276
