DRAFT <br />1. On a monthly basis, provide a shelter report to the Board of Commissioners. This report will include: <br />(a) Total number of intakes. <br />(b) Number of Owner Surrenders. <br />(c) Total Number Euthanized. <br />(d) Total Number Euthanized due to severe health, safety, or behavioral issues. <br />(e) Total Dogs /Cats removed from the shelter made available for adoption by private rescue <br />organizations or directly to the community. <br />(f) List of rescue organizations receiving dogs /cats from the shelter. <br />2. Take the necessary steps to allow any licensed animal rescue organization in good standing with the <br />NC Department of Agriculture to receive dogs and/or cats that are taken into custody at the animal <br />shelter. <br />c) The Animal Protection & Preservation Advisory Committee will: <br />1. Meet at least monthly until a permanent program to facilitate the adoption and re- horning of dogs and <br />cats has been established. <br />2. Discuss and provide to the Board of Commissioners a formal recommendation concerning whether the <br />Cabarrus County Animal Shelter (a) is outsourced to an independent organization, who will be <br />responsible for all aspects of a community wide rescue and adoption program, or (b) will be operated as a <br />county department, with a position being created for shelter director. This recommendation should be <br />provided to the Board of Commissioners by its regularly scheduled meeting in December 2010. <br />3. Review, and establish, using models such as the No -Kill Advocacy Center or the Asilomar Accords, <br />an evaluation matrix to include medical and behavioral screening criteria that will be used to evaluate the <br />adoptability of all dogs and cats surrendered or relinquished to the shelter. <br />4. Identify additional resources that may be needed to meet the established preservation goals for the <br />Cabarrus County Animal Shelter, to include alternative sources of public revenue & grants, as well as <br />additional space needs for the organization. <br />-2- <br />Attachment number 1 <br />E -1 Page 26 <br />
