Timeline
February 25: County input received
February 29: Letters and fact sheet sent to each household in Fishertown.
March 18 & 25: Information sessions held in the evening at PWOC
April 15: Surveying of residents begins
May/June: Based on survey results, decision made to either
1) Annex Fishertown and provide utilities or to
2) Maintain status quo.
Alternate Courses of Action
There are two alternative courses of action to the plan outlined in this memo. Both
alternatives can be explpred at the request of City Council.
1) The first alternative to the above course of action would occur if the County
agrees to become a funding partner for the cost associated with extending the
water and sewer service. If this were to occur, then the issue of annexation and
placing Fishertown on the list with other neighborhoods in need of water and
sewer service could be re-examined.
2) Another alternate course of action would occur if the County pursued and
received additional grant funding from the Federal Government to help pay for
the cost of the service extension. Kannapolis does not qualify for these funds
because it is a HUD entitlement City.
Attachments to this Memo
Draft letter
Draft fact sheet
Revenue and budget impacts to the City
G ~5
