Congressmen understand all aspects of Extension during the Washington, D.C. Congressional visits. She
personally led conversations with NC Rep. Robin Hayes. The 2007 PILD Conference allowed Christine to open the
door much wider for future support staff involvement at such professional-level seminars and conferences when she
met and discussed the regional association with other support staff persons -for the first time ever! At the 2007
JCEP conference, Christine chose to attend the ESP Association meeting to gleam information to share with the
support staff association.
Christine has represented her association at the NC County Agricultural Agents Association annual conferences,
and greeted County Commissioner Association members and guests at the Horn-Of-Plenty festivities. Recognized
for the knowledge of her organization, she has mentored and evaluated support staff participating in the Pathway
Leadership Program. Christine proctored the Masters-level class,' Agriculture & Extension Education 501,' for a new
4-H/Extension Agent, and later was asked for recommendations to Graduate School. Christine's positive attitude
toward her work, her ability to market and position NCCES in the workplace and the community, along with her
interpersonal skills with clientele, county, state and governmental leaders, make her a genuine asset to North
Carolina Cooperative Extension, and the Cabarrus County Center.
Summary Statement. No one else tells Extension's story better than Christine, and she has told it so well
for over 25 years. Her heart and soul is entwined throughout our organization. She `leads by example' not
only within association work, but throughout her entire Extension profession. Her unselfish commitment to
serve at all levels of our organization, as well as in her community, makes her an obvious recipient of the
ESP Visionary Leadership Award.
Christine C.
