For the risk areas the primary shelter and the reception center .are <br />usually located in the same facility: <br />Shelter Manager - An individual who provides for internal organization, administration, and <br />operation of a shelter facility. <br />S ecial Needs Shelter - Desi nated shelters rovided b local overzunent to meet the <br />p g p Y g <br />needs of special population groups, such as the physically disabled. <br />S ecial O erations Res once Team SORT - A mobile medical team com fete with <br />p p P .( ) p . <br />physicians, nurses, and equipment prepared to deploy on short notice to the site of an <br />emergency or disaster. <br />Staging Area - Apre-selected location having large parking areas such as a major shopping <br />area, schools, etc. The area is a base for the assembly of persons and equipment to be moved <br />into or out of a response area. Several of these areas should be designated to each evacuating <br />jurisdiction. <br />Standard Operating Procedures {SOP) - Set of instructions having the force of a directive, <br />covering features of operations which lend themselves to a definite or standardized praceduz~e <br />. ,, without loss of effectiveness, and implemented without a specific direct order from higher <br />. , authority. <br /> <br />State Emergency Response Commission {BERG), designated by the Governor, <br />responsible for establishing HA.ZMAT planning districts and appointing/overseeing Local <br />Emergency Planning Committees. <br />State Emergency Response Team {BERT) - A team of senior representatives of state <br />agencies, state level volunteer organizations, and state level corporate associations who have <br />knowledge of their organization resources and have the authority to commit those resources <br />to emergency response. SERT operates from the State EOC and the Director of EM serves as <br />the BERT leader. <br />State Warning Pvint {SWP) -The State Facility (State Highway Patrol Communications <br />Center} that receives warnings and other emergency information over NAWAS and relays <br />this information in accordance with current directives. <br />Tasl{Force - A group of resources with shared communication and leader. It may be pre- <br />established and sent to an incident or it may be created at the incident. <br />Task Force 21 (TF 2i) - A team of first responders from Cabanas County and Local <br />' ~ municipal law enforcement agencies, fire departments, emergency medical services, and <br />EOP/GLOSSARY 1 I September 2008 <br />F-2 272 of 408 <br />
