Mana ement Coordinator <br />g <br />13. Director of Public Health/Cabarrus Health Alliance <br />a. Develop procedures for emergency public health operations during <br />emergency operations. Coordinate activities to evaluate, detect, prevent, and control <br />communicable disease, monitor waste disposal and conduct vector/vermin control. If <br />practicable, continue inspection of public restaurants/food handling sites during <br />emergency situations. <br />b. Develop mutual aid agreements with surrounding counties to supplement <br />local public health services support in emergency situations. <br />c. Provide laboratory facilities to assist with evaluation of potential <br />contamination. <br />d. Support shelter operations throughout the county. Provide nursing staff to <br />both public and special medical needs shelters to assist with medical care and medication <br />needs. Inspect food, water, and sanitation facilities in shelters. . <br />e. Eliminate public health nuisances and imminent hazards pursuant to G.S. <br />130A-19 and 130A-20. As required, exercise isolation and quarantine authority pursuant <br />l to G.S. 130A-145. <br />f. Implement emergency health awareness and public information programs <br />through the County Public Information Officer. <br />g. During a hazardous materials or radiological release incident, be prepared to <br />provide personnel to assist state agencies in monitoring and gathering of samples from <br />food handling/processing facilities. Maintain the county supply of thyroid blocking agent <br />{Potassium Iodide) for use by emergency workers, county residents, evacuees and <br />institutionalized persons. Issue this medication when advised by the State Health Director <br />to those personnel designated by the Emergency Management Coordinator. <br />h. Prepare the Cabanus County pandemic disease plan for the response to a <br />pandemic disease event. As needed, execute the plan within the county and control the ~ <br />medical-technical aspects of the response operations <br />i. The director will <br />provide for the reception, storage, and employment of the medications and equipment <br />during the response., <br />j. Report to the EOC upon activation.
