.~ V. SUPPORTING AGENCY RESPONSIBILITIES <br />A. Organization: The County relies upon other government agencies. and non- <br />governmentorganizations for support during emergency response operations. Listed <br />below are the specific duties and responsibilities for those non-governmental <br />organizations that participate in county emergency response operations. <br />B. Assignment of Responsibilities. <br />1. Superintendent, Cabarrus County Schools <br />a. Develop notification/warning and school evacuation procedures for <br />emergency situations. Identify protected areas in each school to be used as shelters if <br />time does not permit evacuation of school population. <br />b. Be prepared to provide school facilities to be used as shelters for mass care <br />and feeding, temporary medical facilities, and Disaster Assistance Centers. Coordinate <br />letters of agreement with government and non-government organizations as necessary. <br />c. Provide resources from the county school system to support emergency <br />response operations. The school system will: <br />') {1) Provide support personnel (school custodians, cafeteria staff, <br />counselors) as available to assist response and recovery operations. <br />(2) Provide buses and drivers to support transportation operations. Be <br />prepared to transport county residents during emergency situations, including special <br />population groups (handicapped, elderly, etc.). <br />{3) Provide fuel support for vehicles used in emergency operations. <br />d. Provide liaison officer to the County Emergency Operations Center for the <br />duration of the emergency <br />2. American Red Cross <br />a. Conduct shelter/mass care operations in Cabarrus County during <br />emergency situations. Provide shelter managers and supplies for shelter operations. <br />b. Coordinate with the Department of Social Services and the Cabarrus Health <br />Alliance for staff support.
