INTEROFFICE MEMO <br />David Hampton, Director <br />Cabarrus County EMS <br />MEMO TO: Mike Downs, Deputy Manager <br />DATE: 06/28/2007 <br />SUBJECT: Mileage increase <br />After meeting with EMS Management and Consultants concerning our billing process it <br />was pointed out that our current mileage charge of $5.00 was too low to receive the <br />maximum amount allowed by Medicare. The recommended increase is to $6.50 per mile <br />in which Medicare will reimburse $6.25. The increase to $6.50 although still below the <br />surrounding counties will allow us to collect the maximum amount allowed.
