CABARRUS COUNTY <br />BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />AGENDA ITEM REQUEST <br />Meeting Date 7/23/07 <br />Agenda Item # G - <br />SUBJECT: <br />Sheriffs Office -Edward Byrne Justice Assistance Grant -Public Hearing <br />BRIEF SUMMARY: <br />The Concord Police Dept, Kannapolis Police Dept, and Cabarrus County Sheriffs Office, <br />are in the process of jointly filing a Justice Administration Grant (JAG) to purchase a <br />NarTest Drug Identification System. The NarTest NTX 2000 is a forensic drug testing unit <br />that can identify heroin, cocaine, methamphetamine, and marijuana in minutes using <br />special flourescent signatures. The Office of Justice requires a public hearing be held <br />before the application can be accepted. <br />REQUESTED ACTION: (Suggested motion if the Board approves the agenda item as presented) <br />1.
