<br />IV. AUTHORIZED AED USERS <br />The definition. of an authorized AED user is a trained volunteer responder who <br />has successfully completed an approved CPR+AED training program and maintains <br />training certification. <br /> <br />V. TRAINED TEAM MEMBER RESPONSIBILITIES <br /> <br />A. Trained team members shall: <br />a. Receive emergency calls from internal locations. <br />b. Call 9-1-1 to initiate Emergency Medical Service response. <br />c. Activate the internal emergency response system and provide prompt life <br />support according to training and experience. <br />d. ResponQ to emergency events with AED in accordance with the "Medical <br />Emergency Procedures" section as designed by Site and Site Coordinator, <br />e. Remain certified for as long as member desires to be a Trained Volunteer, <br />and notify Site Coordinator if member should become unable or unwilling <br />to carry out the functions of a Trained Volunteer for any reason. <br />f. Understand and comply with the requirements of this policy. <br /> <br />VI. EOUIPMENT <br /> <br />Bring the AED kit to all medical emergencies, The AED should be used on any <br />person who is 8 years of age or older and displays the symptoms of sudden cardiac arrest. <br />The AED should be used after the following symptoms are confirmed: <br /> <br />a. Victim is unconscious <br />b. Victim is not breathing <br />c. Victim has no pulse <br /> <br />JIll MEDICAL EMERGENCY PROCEDURE <br />EVENT RESPONSE AND PROTOCOL <br /> <br />In the event ora cardiac arrest on the premises: <br /> <br />A. CRITICAL STEPS OF AN EVENT RESPONSE <br /> <br />1. Assess patient's level of consciousness (tap and shout in both ears, "Are you <br />OK!") <br />2. Assess Airway by head-tilt, chin-lift method <br />3. Assess Breathing 3-5 seconds <br />4.
