NC Cooperative Extension provides training, supervision, and assistance as well <br />as guidance for school 4-H clubs. The Cabarrus County Government manages <br />financial and personnel matters. Businesses and Healthy Cabarrus supply resource <br />persons for programs for students. The YMCA and the Parks & Rec departments <br />supply facilities and personnel. Boy Scouts of America supervise the Leaming for Life <br />and Ventures activities. Students may participate in the AOL/Time Warner "Time to <br />Read" literacy program as well as the school Accelerated Reader program. "Hooked on <br />Health" to induce youth to make healthy choices is presented by EFNEP (Expanded <br />Food and Nutrition Program). Transportation for field trips will be provided by school <br />activity bus or by Cabarrus County Transportation. <br /> <br /> Hiring for staff will begin as soon as the grant is received and accepted by the <br /> Cabarrus County Commissioners. A memorandum of agreement is signed by the <br /> school principal and director. Publicity and registration will begin. Drug tests, criminal <br /> background checks, training of staff, planning, and procurement of resources will be <br /> done. Meetings with the Advisory Council, school staff, and resource persons will be <br /> held. The Parent Handbook and required forms will be distributed. Opening of the <br /> program will begin the first week of school. <br /> C. <br /> <br />Staffinq and Volunteers <br /> <br />We will have a Program Director, Site Director, two counselors and two <br /> <br />enrichment leaders at each school. We will contract at least one hour weekly with the <br />school technology specialist. As enrollment increases, an additional counselor to assist <br />during homework help will be added to insure a ratio of 1:15. <br /> <br />5 <br /> <br /> <br />
