<br />3. Work-Related Expenses and Participation Expenses <br />a. Description: Work-related and participation expenses for Work First <br />recipients are costs that can be incurred and are directly related to <br />obtaining and maintaining ajob, as determined by the Social Worker. <br />These expenses can consist of: clothing for work and interviews, tools, <br />uniforms, car repairs, car insurance, tires. It is understood that these <br />are one-time expenses, and should not be provided if, by the social <br />worker's determination, that this will be ongoing, and will be needed <br />on a regular basis to maintain employment. Other work-related and <br />participation expenses can be approved, on an as needed and assessed <br />basis, and approved by the Work First Employment Supervisor. <br />b. Provision: Work-related and participation expenses will be provided <br />by a number of suppliers of these services. The Department has <br />accounts with several providers of these services. <br />c. Location: The locations for the provision of work-related and <br />participation expenses are found at various places around the county. <br />.1 <br /> <br />4. Transportation <br />a. Description: Transportation for job seeking and work is an absolute <br />necessity for Work First recipients. If they do not have access to a <br />vehicle, the Work First program will payor reimburse them once they <br />obtain a job, and are stabilized on that job, which has been determined <br />to be 30 days from the date of employment. In some instances, the <br />Work First recipient may have a vehicle, and reimbursement can be <br />made at a rate that will be set in January 2005. As in provided <br />transportation, reimbursement will be made for 30 days from the date <br />of employment. Efforts will be made to encourage and provide <br />incentives to car pool. <br />b. Provision: Presently, Cabarrus County has a county run <br />transportation system, Cabarrus County Transport Service (CCTS), <br />as well as a public bus system, C-K Rider. Taxis are utilized as well <br />as the vans when necessary. <br />c. Location: Transportation services are provided presently to jobs, both <br />in county and out of county, within a reasonable distance. <br /> <br />5. Health Support <br />a. Description: Health Support services at Cabarrus County DSS are <br />provided by social workers in the Crisis Unit and assist Work First <br />recipients in identifying and recognizing physical and mental health- <br />related needs, cope with functioning limits, provide counseling, and <br />securing admission to medical, drug treatment, and other health-related <br />facilities. <br />b. Provision: Assessment is done by the Crisis Unit social worker. <br />Various health facilities and providers in the community provide <br />servIces. <br /> <br />12 <br />Q-5 <br />
