b. Cabarrus County provides additional services by contract with outside <br />agencies or organizations: <br /> <br />(1) Cabarrus Health Alliance (public health services) <br />(2) Piedmont Behavioral Healthcare (public mental health services) <br />(3) Cabarms County Transportation Service <br />(4) Volunteer Fire Departments <br />(5) Rescue Squads <br />(6) Water and Sewer Authority of Cabarrus County (WSACC) <br />(7) American Red Cross (Emergency Shelter Operations) <br /> <br />Private contractors provide sanitation services for unincorporated areas in the county. <br /> <br /> c. The following municipalities provide services that may be directly impacted <br />during an emergency and could be expanded to meet emergency requirements: <br /> <br /> (1) City of Concord - Law Enforcement, Fire and Life Safety, Electric <br />Utilities (Electra cities Member), Public Works, Sanitation and Recycling (Contracted), <br />Communications, Airport Operations, Parks and Recreation, Public Housing, Community <br />Development. <br /> <br /> (2) City of Kannapolis - Law Enforcement, Fire and Life Safety, Public <br />Works, Sanitation and Recycling (Contracted), Communications, City Schools, Parks and <br />Recreation. <br /> <br /> (3) Town of Harrisburg - Law Enforcement, Fire and Life Safety, Water and <br />Sewer, Sanitation and Recycling (Contracted), Street Maintenance. <br /> <br /> (4) Town of Mt. Pleasant - Law Enforcement, Fire and Life Safety, Water & <br />Sewer, Sanitation and Recycling (Contracted), Street Maintenance. <br /> <br />(5) Town of Midland- contracts for services with Cabarrus County. <br /> <br />2. The major traffic arteries are: <br /> <br /> a. Interstate Highway 1-85: runs northeast-southwest through northwest section <br />of the county. <br /> <br />b. US Highway 29: runs north-southwest through the central section of the <br /> <br />county. <br /> <br /> c. US Highway 601: runs north-south through the central section of the county. <br />NC Highway 200 branches off US 601 through the southeastern comer of the county. <br /> <br />d.
