situation. He directs t~e actions of the Emergency Management Division and the staff of the <br />EOC. To accomplish[ these tasks he will: <br /> <br /> (1) Alert staff and activate Emergency Operations Center when notified of <br />impending or existing~mergency situations. Plan for continuous operations. Contact General <br />Services to maintain llae EOC generator for back-up power to the Emergency Operations <br />Center. ~ <br /> <br /> (2) 1V~intain an operational journal/event log during the emergency. <br />Monitor and authenticate reports to and from the Emergency Operations Center. Conduct <br />scheduled briefings ~d periodic updates as required. <br /> <br /> (3) R~eive requests for assistance from municipalities and agencies within <br />the County and direc~aid to areas where needed. Set priorities for available resources and <br />implement controls o1~ these resources while restoring essential services. <br /> <br /> (4) As! necessary, request additional assistance from the State Emerge/tcy <br />Management Division. <br /> <br /> (5) DiSseminate information through Public Information Officer (PIO) during <br />emergency situation~. Assist the PIO in developing and maintaining a public <br />information/educatio$ program. <br /> <br /> (6) Oo~ ordinate with the American Red Cross representative to activate <br />reception and shelter areas within the county. Also, coordinate with adjoining counties for <br />additional shelter support as needed. <br /> <br /> d. After ~e emergency situation has subsided or passed, recovery operations <br />will begin. The Emerl[ency Management Coordinator will direct local recovery operations <br />and coordinate the activities of private, State, and Federal agencies/organizations. <br /> <br /> (1) Train, equip, and deploy trained damage assessment teams during <br />recovery operations. <br /> <br /> (2) OVe_' rsee recovery operations at hazardous materials incidents to insure <br />the safety of the publ~ and protection of the environment. <br /> <br /> (3) At Ne direction of the Chairman of the Board of Commissioners, initiate <br />the return of evacue~is to homes when safe to do so. Monitor the progress and modify <br />evacuation procedure~ when needed. <br /> <br /> (4) W.~rk with the Western Branch Office to organize and equip FEMA <br />Disaster Application ~2enters within the County. <br /> <br /> (5) Asilist with identification and notification of applicants eligible for Public <br />Assistance programs (Federal, State, and local government entities, private non-profit <br /> <br />organizations, etc.) <br /> <br />EOP/BASIC PLAN <br /> <br />January 2003 <br /> <br /> <br />
