Career Center, with its various partners has a wide array of training opportunities <br />available. These include On-the-Job Training, cooperative education training (through <br />RCCC), skill upgrading, job readiness training, adult literacy and basic education training. <br /> <br />Discuss the process for accessing quality consumer information so that eligible individuals can <br />make informed decisions on where to receive training. Describe the process for ensuring that <br />customer choice in the selection of an eligible training provider is maximized. The PREVENTS <br />worker, through the Chamber of Commerce, ESC, and internet will keep informed of local <br />trends. This, combined with a knowledge of all available training resources, will better <br />ensure that PREVENTS customers can make informed choices in regard to training <br />available in the region. <br /> <br />Describe how Individual Training Account vouchers will be issued, through the JobLink Career <br />Center, to eligible individuals to finance training services (tuition, fees, books, and supplies). <br />Individual Training Accounts vouchers can be issued to eligible and assessed PREVENTS <br />customers after enough time has been devoted to them to make it more assured that they <br />will complete a program such as this. If eligible, they can receive this assistance through <br />DSS funding as well. Once the customer has demonstrated the willingness to participate <br />to completion, the PREVENTS worker will advocate for this in the customer's behalf. <br /> <br />Describe how the Individual Training Account System will be administered. The PREVENTS <br />customer will be able to take advantage of the ITA system at the JobLink Career Center. <br />However, due to the barriers to completion that is targeted through PREVENTS, it will take <br />close cooperation with the PREVENTS worker to assure that this stands a reasonable <br />chance of completion and success prior to approval for an ITA. <br /> <br />Describe planned case management services, including how and when counseling will be <br />provided at the JobLink Career Center. Describe how case management services will be" <br />provided for participants receiving trainin, g outside the Local Area. Describe how the WIA <br />participant's progress and attendance will be monitored. From the beginning of recruitment <br />throUgh placement and post-placement monitoring and follow-up, there will be intensive <br />case management by the PREVENTS worker. It should be noted that the population <br />targeted for these services are those that have habitually been unemployed and have been <br />on the brink of homelessness and/or been in other crisis situations. This has contributed <br />to their frequent and continuous unemployed state. Due to these problems that impact <br />employment, the PREVENTS worker will closely case manage each customer enrolled in <br />the PREVENTS program to give them the best possible chance of successful employment. <br />The PREVENTS worker will have very frequent contact with the customer and will monitor <br />attendance personally in most activities. <br /> <br />E. SUPPORTIVE SERVICES <br /> <br />Describe the process for verifying that supportive services are provided only to individuals who <br />are participating in core, intensive, or training services through the JobLink Career Center and are <br />unable to obtain supportive services through other programs providing such services. The <br />PREVENTS worker will a have a thorough knowledge of all supportive services available <br />through all agencies involved in JobLink. Due to their close monitoring of their customers <br />process through the PREVENTS program, the PREVENTS worker will be in the best <br />possible position to determine what supportive services are needed, What are appropriate, <br />and through whom should they be accessed. <br /> <br />Identify participant support to be provided and indicate whether supportive services are to be paid <br />with WIA funds. Most participant support through the PREVENTS program will be for the <br />purpose of securing and stabilizing the customer on the job. Those support services paid <br />for through WIA funds would consist of limited transportation and any work-related tools <br />or clothing.
