representatives shall serve in accordance with the term limitations and <br />guidelines as set forth in these By-laws. <br /> <br />Section 3. <br /> <br />][1. Low Income Sector:- <br /> <br /> a. At least one-third of the total membership of the Board of Directors <br /> shah consist of persons chosen in accordance 'with the democratic <br /> selection procedures adequate to assure that they are representative of the <br />'pOOr in the area served by this agency. They do not have to be poor <br /> themselves, but, the Selection procedure shall be conducted in a manner <br /> that will assure that they represent the poor. Representatives of the poor <br /> shall be elected from various neighborhoods or target areas of the service <br /> <br />b. The membership committee shall haVe the responsibility 'of <br />overseeing the selection procedures for ~ the vacancies in this sector. <br />Their duties .shall include, but not limited to the selection of time, d~tes <br />and places for selection of these members, review and certify that the' <br />names meet the tp,~lifieations and inform the Board of Directors of the <br />results. <br /> <br />· Section 4. <br /> <br />III: Private Sector:. <br /> <br />One-ttxird of the Board of I)ireetors shall be offleials or members' of <br />business, industry, labor, religious, welfare, education or other major <br />groups of interest in the community served by this corporation. These <br />groups of interests shall be selected by the membership of the governing <br />Board or by the executive committee. The selection shall be in such a <br />manner as to ensure that the Board is continuing an effective mechanism <br />for securing broad community involvement. <br /> <br />a. The Head Start Policy Council: As the grantee agency for the Head <br />Start Program and in accordance with the 1998 Head Start Performanec <br />Standards, this agency shall have the Head Start Policy Council Chaiz~uan <br />serve as a voting member on the Board of Directors. <br /> <br /> <br />
